We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alora Tefariah. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alora below.
Alora, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
My journey actually started when I was diagnosed with cancer as a child. I began to escape through poetry. My poetry developed into short stories and then plays, I even wrote plays that I directed my senior year of high school. I later went on to college for film production. This is when I truly locked in on my craft. This is the time that I realized developing the story is my passion, that’s when I decided to begin writing books. My first book, Which Sistars: Mortem was and is especially important to me because I had the chance of stepping into sci-fi fantasy, a genre I want to see more people that look like me in. It’s the first part of the trilogy, however, I plan on adding more books to the series. This is a vast difference in my books All Roads Lead To Dubai part 1&2, and N.A.S. & B.A.E., which are urban novels based on true events. I just published my first horror novel on Halloween of 2022, and have a horror series on TikTok. A lot of my creation just comes from my imagination, this is why I’m convinced this was a gift, which is why I’m so confident I’ll succeed. There are no boundaries on what I’m capable of creating with my words, I am able to write all genres, thus, never being boxed in.
Alora, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Being a self published author and writer, I find it exhilarating to be able to create a full story based off of one idea. As far as how I stay motivated, is by remembering how I feel developing stories that will reach people I may never meet. Discipline is definitely needed in my world, one thing I tell my clients is, if you commit to writing just one page a day, you’ll still end up with a book. Even focusing on writing when you’re going through writers block, which is a writer’s worst time for creation. I have been blessed with the opportunity to help others develop their stories and editing for them as well. I’m actually working on a masterclass that will be launching soon so that I can make my services available to even more people around the world. I’m most proud of my supportive and consistent fans that keep me motivated all around the world. Knowing that countries I’ve never visited are beginning to notice my work and supporting my craft is still unreal, but so fulfilling. The one thing I would want anyone to know when wanting to work with me is, always be authentic and always be dependable. Those attributes will get you further than you think, and in this arena, reputation and attitude is just as important as talent.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal, as it pertains to writing, is setting my stories play out on the big screen. Right now, I have 7 books published but my lifetime goal is to have 30 books published and several best sellers.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It’s crazy because people don’t realize how big of a tool social media is today. One of my books went viral on TikTok and overnight my sales went through the roof and has been consistent since! Using social media, you have to remember to be creative, authentic and consistent. The followers will come, and you can also make money while doing it.
