We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alondra Fraga. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alondra below.
Alright, Alondra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Honestly what I feel separates me is my love for my craft, You can go to your local grocery store and even Walmart or target and you can find piñatas, but you can tell they were made in a rush, like when’s the last time you’ve seen your favorite character in a piñata actually look like the character.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a crafter, and I do things from cups to shirts to party arrangements, but my main specialty are my piñatas. Growing up I feel like the piñata was the most important part of your birthday, you would take a picture with it ,and all your friends would gather around and wait for their turn to hopefully smash a big cardboard figure in hopes to dive into candy. My piñatas are also durable, I’ve seen at so many parties not all kids get to take a turn to hit the piñata, so my goal is no kid left behind (or adult), but there are cases where there are younger kids or, kids with special needs that don’t need a heavy piñata, i’m always able to meet everyone’s needs. I always try to connect with all of my customers so they can feel comfortable enough to always ask for what they truly want and need. I started in 2020, one year after the loss of my cousin I suddenly had the spark to make something, so my first ever craft was his whole name with flowers for a small mass we had for him.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honestly my hard work. I charge less than the big stores, but put more love and effort to my products, I sometimes drive the mile to make sure my clients don’t have an extra thing to worry about. And honestly I’m honored when I see them the next year, I had a client that I once did their kids #3 piñata and I’m getting ready to do #8 this year.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That I can catch up tomorrow, there has been many times were I put up what I have to do for tomorrow, and end up having double the work to do, it has cause me to have sleepless nights to make sure I deliver products on time. And honestly the tomorrows ended up just being a waste of progress.
