We recently connected with Alondra Dimas and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alondra , thanks for joining us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
La Mujer Blanca first began with me finding harmony with the craft and the teachings of my ancestors. I unlocked a new side of Spirit, untainted by the views of Catholicism, but this didn’t take place till late 2017, post-divorce, and needing to find who I was again, I went back to my roots.
I started where most readers start— Pick-A-Cards. I went to Botanicas and received a total of three readings before teaching myself how to read the Tarot and eventually the Baraja Española. More and more, I added to my skill level until I had my hands on a heavy chunk of divination tools, and then I pulled back and honed my skill on those that I felt aligned with my calling more.
My path into Brujeria and all things Occult had already been predestined and laid out for me in my stars. However, my Initiation into it started with the lessons I found with my mother, who inherited the wisdom of Curanderismo (traditional folk healing) from my great-grandmother, who was a curandera and doula, as well as a Bruja from her pueblo, Doña Maria.
I continued under the guidance of other mentors in various practices and during different phases of my unraveling, Jasmin from esoteric_esa, Vanessa Codornui of thebizbruja, and, more recently, Luz from luz_astral. There are other practitioners who have also been kind enough to share some of their knowledge with me as well, and in turn expanding my connections to not just the spirit of people but that of plantitas and animals. Karla from intuitivecare_la, lastly, Erika Buenaflor from erika.buenaflor_curandera.
Acknowledging that not everyone has access to such teachings was what sparked this opportunity to share my insights and experiences with others who are trying to find their way back home.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a first-generation Mexican-American artist and bruja, embracing both facets of my identity has grounded me in my spiritual journey and deepened my connection to my ancestors. This integration has brought me a sense of peace and fluidity as I engage with this deeper aspect of my soul.
My journey began by observing my mother, who learned the art of Curanderismo (traditional folk medicine) from my great-grandmother. This heritage ensured that I never lost touch with these invaluable practices. However, I recognize that not everyone has access to such knowledge, which inspired me to share what I’ve learned. This led to the creation of La Mujer Blanca Botanica.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our business strategy isn’t some groundbreaking innovation but rather we rely on something tried and true. Word of Mouth, most of our clients come to us from varying backgrounds and livelihoods but what brings them all together is that they were referred by friends or family members who either found us on Instagram or through another practitioner. From there we believe that establishing repertoire through our offerings, we remember names and birthdays and offer special services or discounts to those who have been with us for years.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our loyal clients have stayed with us for years and have shared our work with their friends, families, and even on their own social media pages.
I’ve always made it clear to my clients, whether they are new or have been with us for years, that I am available for them post-fact if they ever need any help. If I am not offering the service they are currently looking for, I can connect them with the right people. I think that helps build our reputation because clients need to feel confident and trust in your ability as a practitioner, but they also need to see you as a friend who is willing to help them navigate their struggles and overcome them.
In order to initially establish a connection with our following, we often promote what we consider to be valuable. “A Thank you” in the form of free one-card tarot answers on our Instagram stories or giveaways when we achieve milestones.
