Alondra & Cinthia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Our parents dreamt big so we could dream bigger. They tackled many obstacles as immigrants in this country and have never given up. They show up and do the work that is required to progress in life, all while not speaking English and having no mentor. They decided to immigrate and create a new life that would later give us better opportunities than they had.
Alondra & Cinthia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a Latina and sister owned business. We specialize in designing clothes that represent a hug from a loved one that is thousands of miles away, and is also worn as a reminder to take care of yourself. Each one of our designs represent a deeper message.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is a book that taught us: all individuals should live in the singular pursuit of their individual dreams. It is an amazing book to read if you are trying to follow a dream to find your purpose in life.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Advocating for our people and culture. We are a representation of first generations, where many of us were told “ni de aquí, ni de allá” (not from here, nor there). We are a new generation where it can be easy to feel displaced when it comes to the term “home”. We strive to provide a home feeling through our clothing brand.
