We recently connected with Alma Cita and have shared our conversation below.
Alma, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all began when I gave birth to my son in 2017 and decided to leave my 9-5 job in the real estate business to become a full-time mother. In my experience as a mother of two, I have suffered severely from PPD (postpartum depression). At the time, I felt lost and depressed. After being stuck in a rut for a while, I decided that I needed to be creative and busy… so that I could keep myself busy and mentally stimulated. In this case, it was makeup and business. There’s always been a part of me that was drawn to the beauty industry and business, but as with everyone else, obstacles seem to come up from time to time. In the end, I never really got around to doing it. I told myself let’s just give it a try for fun and see where it takes me.
When I launched Citacosmetics.com in 2019, I was just beginning my journey as a small business owner. And the rest is history. Here I am 4 years later. Humbled and grateful.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The moment i felt i had to pivot from my career (9-5) job was after i gave birth to my second child. I had severe PPD (postpartum depression) . And this was during Covid-19 Pandemic 2020. I was getting depressed being at home isolated with my first child and now with my daughter, i was planning on continuing my career and going back into real estate-property management. But i also wanted to go back to a job with more freedom and still be able to be home and be my own boss. So i decided to give up my career for a minute and start my business. and honestly that was one of the best decisions i made. It has its ups and downs, but over all I’m happy with business.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Social media it is! Honestly its been my market and clients find me on there. its amazing how social media took over the market and it will continue to.. i have clients all over states that have and till this day buy my products online. I’m very grateful for them and humbled about it.
