Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Allysah Durrant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Allysah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to capture the special moments in their lives. One thing that I do differently is provide my clients with all images from their sessions. Unlike most photographers, I do not limit a session to only 5-20 photos. I see the small moments in photography sessions as some of the most valuable and memorable. Seeing the chaos, amidst the perfect photos that will be displayed on your wall, is unique and one of a kind.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Allysah Bundy Durrant and I am the owner of Memories Design and Film. I am a photographer and videographer located in Southern Utah. I love capturing memories of the amazing people I have the pleasure of meeting. I specialize in family photography and weddings, but I do so much more. I like to find locations outside of the norm to provide my clients with the most unique photos of their families. I strive to provide a fun and playful experience to capture the raw/candid moments that you will cherish forever.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I discovered my love for photography in High School. At the time my family had a basic DSLR that I learned many of the basic skills with. After using that for a couple of years I had saved up enough money to purchase my very own camera. It took a couple of years as a 15-year-old working for a local bbq restaurant to save the $800 at the time. I have been blessed to continue working on my skills and was able to purchase my current camera with all the money I made from my first photoshoots. I am extremely grateful for the support of family and friends who helped me continue to learn and grow through the process to get me to where I am at today.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have found that the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is having genuine relationships with everyone I work with. I find that every photoshoot or video event results in new friendships. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
