We recently connected with Ally Heiden and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ally, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Growing up, the life path that was laid in front of me always included a four year degree at a college or university. Once I graduated high school I went to my community college in my hometown with no for sure plan of what I truly wanted to do. I always had esthetics in the back of my mind but was never sure if I could make a career out of it. After taking a few semesters off I decided to take the leap of faith and apply for esthetics school at the Douglas J Aveda institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Moving from home was a scary decision but turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I graduated from esthetics school in August of 2022 and moved back to my hometown and am now apart of Golden Hour Studio. Taking this risk has been once of the greatest things I’ve done and I absolutely love my job and clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids for a little under a year to complete esthetics school at the Douglas J Aveda institute. I offer custom facials, dermaplaning, chemical peels and brow lamination. I am really focused on results driven services and love talking to my clients about achieving the best possible outcome for their skin.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes, I absolutely love my job and everything it entails. I love making people feel confident in their own skin and embracing their natural beauty.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The main thing that helps you be successful in this career is being confident and open about your work and collaborating with your clients to achieve the best results.
