Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ally Amore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ally, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Most photographers go with “insert name” Photography – or Visuals/Studios etc as a business name. My name is Ally but that is such a common name that I wanted to add something else to it that describes my work specifically and represents my brand. I love capturing love, whether that’s between newlyweds or mother and child or just self love. But “love” didn’t blend with my name – Amore matched perfectly. Love in Italian.
Ally, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Ally and I’ve always been obsessed with creating visuals, whether it’s photo or video I love it all. It was easy to get into photography since almost everyone I knew was a photographer or model. I was gifted a camera and had plenty of friends to practice with! I quickly progressed from being in front of the camera to behind it all the time, finding that to be significantly more rewarding to me. One of my friends needed assistance at a wedding she was capturing, and I realized that’s where I’m happiest. I felt honored to be able to capture so many intimate moments amongst friends and family – and still do at every wedding. In 2021 I started to dabble in video professionally and loved the way I could tell a story in motion differently than I could with my photos. I now offer photo, video, and content creation for any event, family, brand or business – and I truly mean any. I take pride in telling diverse love stories, fostering connections, and creating a safe, respectful, and joyous space for everyone.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The wedding industry is wild to say the least. There’s a ton of bad apples out there and a lot of clients don’t know the red flags because they aren’t used to booking so many major vendors etc. Seeing all these problems I try to show as many people as I can what a reputable business in this industry looks like. Without having to book with me, I always send a sample contract so clients can know regardless of who they choose – what a contract should look like and that they should expect to receive one. I also send a wedding guide with helpful tips for general wedding planning and engagement sessions to every inquiry I receive. In every advertisement I include links to all of my reviews from Google to Facebook to Zola so they can see not only am I 5 star rated, it’s across the board on multiple platforms.
Any advice for managing a team?
We are a very close knit team so it naturally comes a bit easier then if I were a large scale company with employees. Vandreena, Mark, Katherine and I are the lead photographers and videographers – so at every wedding one of us will be present. I have 7 additional people I work with as well so I can provide multiple photographers/videographers/drone/content creation etc however – all final products no matter if it’s photo and video are all edited by me. This helps the team have a healthy work-life balance because they only have to work on wedding day, and not editing for days afterwards on top of what they have going on separately. However with our open communication, great organization, and camaraderie wedding days never feel like work at all to any of us.
