We recently connected with ALL$TAR KA$H and have shared our conversation below.
ALL$TAR, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
From as early as I can remember, I love music. I’d sing or making little rhyming jingles to myself and I found that I could enjoy myself in the midst of music. I used to sing at school in devotion and sing in the church chior, however I disregarded my passion for music for a few years, trying to learn other professions. I wanted to be a teacher for the longest time, and a book I was reading about teachers said, if lecturing isn’t the passion you have, find your passion and use it in the classroom. That shook my whole perspective.
That’s where ALL$TAR KA$H birthed. The name ‘ALL$TAR’ represents the scholar side of me that loves to learn new skills, who works to excell in everything but also remembers to enjoy life and cherish the moments. ‘KA$H’ represents my urge to make a difference in all areas of my life, and signifies the hustle of the unconventional journey to find another way out of the pit. Not just about money, but freedom.
I wanted to be doing something I was REALLY passionate about, something I wouldn’t fall out of love with even with its struggles. So I went and searched myself. Listening to music was great, until my relatable songs were only relatable to an extent for me. This led me to start writing my own songs I could play and 100% relate to.
I wrote my first series of songs at the age of 11-12, explaining to myself what I was going through, it was my coping mechanism. This led to me falling in love with the way I could use the words to describe what I felt.
At the age of 13-14 I enquired more about song writing and wanting to further my now hobby/coping mechanism to a full time career. I started putting my name out there by freestyled in public with my friends, at lunch tables in high school, and even performed a song dedicated to my high school at 16. I took my career even more seriously after this, making social platforms where people could listen to my craft, attended ACM music college, or attending gigs to understand the whole process and get more experience.
I’m 18 years old now and currently still in the process of mastering my craft while situating myself in the music, I still love music and the process of making songs, but most of all I love this keeps me true myself. Reminding me of my story, my goals and what I originally set for.
Music made ALL$TAR KA$H, now ALL$TAR KA$H makes music.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is ALL$TAR KA$H, I am an 18 year old American-Caribbean Vocal Artist. From as early as I can remember, I’ve love music. I used to sing at school in devotion, sing in the church chior, or even make little rhyming jingles to myself while I did my chores. Through this. I found that I could enjoy myself in the midst of music, however I subconsciously disregarded my passion for a few years, going around learning about professions I thought I liked as much as making music. I wanted to be a teacher at one point and a book I was reading said, if lecturing isn’t your passion, find your passion and use it in the classroom.
That shook my whole perspective and thats that’s where ALL$TAR KA$H birthed. The name ‘ALL$TAR’ represents the scholar side of me that loves to learn new skills, who works to excell in everything enjoys life, focuses on the analytics of everything and cherishes the surreal moments in life. ‘KA$H’ represents my urge to make a difference in whatever I do and signifies the intention behind the unconventional hustle out of the pit. Not just about money, but freedom.
At the age of 13-14 I enquired more about song writing and wanting to further my now hobby/coping mechanism to a full time career. I don’t tend to categorize my craft, however I could be considered as a multidisciplinary artist. Meaning I combine different genres of music into a song, using its style of lyricms, mixing it with another format of different genre or tonality (example: dancehall-lofi, gospel-rap). I believe I just connect with the sound and whatever comes to my mind, becomes a masterpiece.
Im proud of myself for being confident enough to tell my story through music, but most of all I love that this keeps me true to myself. Reminding me of my journey, my goals and what I originally set out for. Music made ALL$TAR KA$H, now ALL$TAR KA$H makes music.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of many rewarding aspect for me as an artist would be the joy and contentment in completing a song. Especially when it reflects the emotion and story I intended. Another aspect would be the feedback and support from my audience also adds to that joy after publication. I realize that they love and relate to my craft even more than I thought they would means more than people think.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started building my audience from freestying in school, posting freestyles on my Instagram stories and then progressed into what I call ‘Ghetto Poems’. After understanding my target audience and more about the functions of my platforms I started with more targeted reels, post and stories which have helped me guage my audience and know how to grow it. I’m currently using new techniques in my posts so my audience will engage more, this is growing my account and introducing myself to many people from various country.
For any wanting to build an online presence, I’d advise them to just be themselves constantly, don’t try to adjust your behavior, your content and especially your morals to fit or match up to the mainstream stuff. Cater to you, be true to you. Your audience will find you and grow from there.
