We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Allison Yanci. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Allison below.
Allison, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
The start of Covid is what brought my business idea to life! I had always wanted to create a website and offer online yoga videos. When the lockdowns began, I thought, what better time than now? I had friends help me with anything from getting the website started, coding, and what to buy for video production. When I began this path, I knew I was meant to work for myself and to serve those who needed help.
Allison, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Optimal Wellness was founded in 2020 by Allison who is passionate about helping others live a balanced, healthy, and happy life. Like many yogis, Allison began her practice following her passion for physical fitness. She trained for years as a bodybuilder lifting weights and exercising in a gym, where she took her first yoga classes. Beyond poses and stretching, yoga struck Allison as a way to balance and care for herself. Through asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), and dhyana (meditation), she developed a love for yoga not only as a physical practice but also as a lifestyle and perspective. Allison completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in April 2016 and she embraces a powerful practice with a healthy sense of fun and compassion. In 2017 she had the opportunity to travel to India with 2 of her teachers and after an immensely positive experience, she decided to dig deeper into the practice of Svadhyaya (self-study). She has studied several styles of yoga and seeks out knowledge in all realms of wellness and longevity. Allison is eager to help others find sthira sukha (steadiness and ease) in their own practices and everyday lives. She hopes to share a positive light in the fitness and yoga community around the world.
Allison teaches yoga in northeast Ohio at local wellness spaces, corporate settings, and with Kent State athletics. She also offers wellness consultations, retreats, personal training, and a very affordable yoga subscription.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients, past retreat participants, and yoga students through email marketing. I’ll send an email once a month with current offerings, upcoming retreats, new classes, and resources that have anything to do with nutrition, wellness, fitness, yoga, and any kind of books/podcasts that has inspired me. I also like to include recipes, science based research, and resources that promote longevity.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, many! The one’s the come to mind are Rich Dad Poor Dad, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Man’s Search for Meaning, The Four Agreements, The 4-hour Work Week, How to Win Friends and Influence People, and the Bitcoin Standard. I really enjoy podcasts with Andrew Huberman and Jack Kruse. I also learn a lot from Rhonda Patrick and Paul Saladino.
