Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Allison Russo-Alesi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Allison , appreciate you joining us today. We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I have made has been the one I made in myself and in my craft. In two thousand fifteen I picked up a camera with the intention of creating something. From there I spent a majority of my free time after high school taking photos of friends, family members, pets, and even other artwork I saw on the street.
A few important steps I took that were overall an investment in myself and this business include, dedicating my free time to learn new skills, practice, goal setting, working with a mentor and adapting to learning curves.
Each time I got behind the camera I grew. I grew in this craft but I also grew a love for what I do. Building this business from the ground up has been so rewarding and I am so honored to be able to share my journey with others.

Allison , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello my name is Allison Russo-Alesi and I am a Georgia based wedding photographer. I have been in the wedding industry for nine years and I feel so honored to serve so many amazing couples and people in the best season of their lives. Photography allows me to freeze time for each of my clients and really preserve a memory and a feeling. In addition to weddings I photograph, seniors, engagement, and lifestyle sessions. Graduating? Engaged? Or just looking for someone to celebrate all that you are? Well, I’m your girl.
I got into this business at the young age of fifteen and didn’t even know I was beginning my career at that time. Owning and operating my business throughout high school and college before going full time was the best transitional experience for me.
I am the most proud of the connections I have made in this industry. My relationships with my clients, other wedding professionals, photographers and peers have been one of the biggest blessings in my career. It takes a village and I won’t be who I am today without each client, mentor and friend I have made in this industry.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Going to college and joining Alpha Delta Pi sorority was the best decision I could have made. Bringing photography services to the sorority was so special because my sorority sisters so kindly trusted me to capture senior photos which led to engagement and then led to weddings. My goal is to be your photographer for life!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
There are two sources I would love to highlight. Social media marketing is the best tool to showcase my most recent work and be vocal about what I do. Connecting with friends of friends and family members allows for more and more growth.
Number two is having a website makes it accessible for my clients to contact me directly and inquire about desired bookings. They will receive a response within 48 hours!
