We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allison Ortiz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Allison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
My Sister Caitlin and I had always dreamed of owning a Medical Spa together, and that’s all it ever seemed, just a dream that would probably never happen. During 2020’s Covid pandemic we were working together in a medical office and decided let’s just start the process of making this dream become a reality. We signed up for a course to become certified in cosmetic injectables and that started our track of immersing ourselves into the aesthetics specialty. We planned on working in a medical spa prior to opening our own however all signs kept pointing to starting on our own. We put in countless hours of behind the scenes work in addition to our hands on trainings. We started by being strictly concierge going to homes to provide service to keep overhead cost down. We knew we wanted to have a mobile medical spa to make us unique. Within 6 months of starting our business we purchased our Mercedes Sprinter, and flash forward another 6 months and we had a brick and mortar office location as well. It’s been almost 4 years since we jumped in and took this risk and we have a growing medical spa, Sorelle Aesthetics, which includes our mobile unit, our office location and a team of estheticians. We could not have been successful in this journey if it weren’t for the support of our family. It may be hard and you may struggle initially, but if living your dream involves taking a risk we say go for it!

Allison , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Myself and my sister, Caitlin Houck, have created Sorelle Aesthetics. It is a nurse practitioner owned and operated medical aesthetics clinic. We opened this business with 2 patients that were family members, over the years we have grown substantially. We provide cosmetic injectable services such as Botox, fillers, facial and skincare services. We retail medical grade skincare including our own branded line. Providing safe treatments with natural looking results is our priority. Our clinic is unique as we have a mobile spa that we can bring the injectables and other services to patient’s homes or workplace for convenience.
We pride ourselves on creating a comfortable, welcoming environment where our patients will have an unmatched elevated experience.
We have become the leaders in our local area for non surgical face lifts with the highest and newest technology.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
In the field of aesthetics it’s very easy to get caught up in what other clinics or providers are doing making you feel like you have to keep up in order to make it. In reality to be successful the best advice is the very basic advice “Stay true to who you are.” We strongly believe that your vibe attracts your tribe. We have never swayed from who we are to try and be like anyone else. We constantly hear feedback of how our clients feel so welcome and they appreciate our honesty and transparency with a personal feel to their time in our space.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes, absolutely. We love the field of aesthetics and wellness. There’s something so special about forming relationships with your patients, and seeing their confidence grow when you hand them a mirror after a treatment is truly the best feeling.
