We recently connected with Allison Norris and have shared our conversation below.
Allison, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
The biggest trend in the dental industry is the shift from clinical to nonclinical careers which coincidentally is reason I launched my recruiting agency, The Dentele Group.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a dental hygienist who decided to step out of my comfort zone and launch The Dentele Group, LLC. We help dental professionals leave clinical dentistry. The agency has grown far larger than I could’ve imagined. We evolved into partnering with with talent acquisition teams in the dental and healthcare industry. We find the best talent in the industry and place them into positions where they thrive.
The Dentele Group is unique because we have candidates with very particular skill sets come directly to us to find their next career. We are not a high-volume agency which means we provide a more relationship-based, concierge experience. Our placement rate is 97%. Unexpected events like a hiring pause, a candidate’s health issue, or relocation account for the 3%.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have never thought of myself as a social media guru nor did I care to be an influencer. I have always just been myself. In the past, I posted on Facebook regularly and often did LIVE videos. The majority of my posts were about how goofy I was.
About two months prior to launching the Dentele Group someone told me that I needed to be active on LinkedIn. I created a basic looking profile with a headshot picture from 2008. That was until I became a business owner and realized just how instrumental LinkedIn would be to my success. I started out very subtle with posting on LinkedIn because I was intimidated. I decided to launch my LIVE series called Tooth be Told which resulted in a ton of new connections overnight. I grew my LinkedIn network to over 4,000 followers in less than a year.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I have always been authentic, open and built my business with integrity. I have never tried to be someone else or what I thought the public would want me to be. I also never exaggerated the truth or pretended I could provide something I couldn’t. When I started partnering with companies for their hiring needs, I have always been up front regarding expectations.
