We recently connected with Allison Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Allison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
At Paragon Design Firm we specialize in interior design and furnishings for large scale custom homes. We also specialize in renovations through Paragon Renovations + Design. Our team of talented designers strive to always keep up or be ahead of the trends. The past few years we have seen a lot of trends when it pertains to colors, but also trends in what people are now building in their homes. As far as colors, grays are still in, but they are a more earthy hue of gray. Beige and bold pops of colors are now making their way back into our lives and we are especially seeing more greens. I think these nature pallets are a movement stemming from people wanting to connect with nature in the home after being indoors for the extended quarantine period. We have also seen a rise in personal entertainment spaces being added to homes. Media rooms, golf simulator rooms and full bars are just a few of the things we are seeing as well as his and hers office spaces. There seems to be a lot of consideration for a personal space for everyone that lives in the home.

Allison, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have had a passion for interior design and architecture for as long as I can recall and have now been in the Interior Design industry for nearly 20 years. In 2018 my business partner Chevon Richards and I, acquired Paragon Design Firm.
We had been employed by the previous owner and when he decided that the company wasn’t what he wanted, we jumped on the opportunity to keep it. We had put so much into it already and it wasn’t even ours, so we couldn’t let it go. Together, we have grown Paragon into not only a design firm but have also expanded with Paragon Renovation + Design as well as Paragon Home Furnishings. The dream and goal of taking the client from plan to furnishing has been had its challenges but determination and a dedicated team have made it possible.
I am a big believer in continuous learning. We do a lot of product knowledge training in the field because I believe learning in this industry is a more hands on approach.
Our team prides themselves in their vast knowledge of materials and products and our clients feel that makes us an exception in the industry.
Communication and integrity are key, and we believe listening to the client and incorporating their ideas and personalities into each project is what makes each space unique and a true reflection of the client.
I believe making every space beautiful and functional is sometimes challenging but can be achieved with confidence and knowledge. My personal design aesthetic is very eclectic, so It allows me to be extremely flexible with styles and designs and I think that is so important when you have clients from all walks of life. I enjoy a challenge and love working with clients to not only create a space for their families to make memories, but also to reflect their personalities and make every square foot as functional as possible.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There are several stories of resilience over the course of the years. One story involved a client that almost broke me. This client was demanding and not respectful of my time, or anyone in general. Quite honestly, by the time I decided to walk away from the project, I was also thinking of walking away from my business because I felt so defeated.
I took that experience and instead of accepting defeat, I looked at all the things I gained from that relationship. I began to see lessons I had learned throughout the course of working with this client. Boundaries must be set with client’s up front. The unusual nature of the clients wants for materials for this project, allowed us to learn a lot about different products and materials that we might not have known about. I feel like that experience made me a more confident designer as well as a stronger business owner.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
We have many goals over the years and have reached most of them. We have several goals set for this next year and are so excited about our team’s dedication to helping us reach those goals.
Our main mission with our company is that building or renovating a home should be fun. We strive to get everyone home and make the building/renovation process as stress free as possible. We believe everyone deserves a space to live comfortably in and we are here to help get them there.
