We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Allie Marie Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Allie Marie below.
Allie Marie, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I just released a book titled “Social Media Reset: A 30-Day Guided Journey to Unplug, Reconnect with God, and Reclaim Your Joy.” I founded a non-profit “Wonderfully Made” to empower girls and women to recognize their worth, cultivate vibrant wellness in body, mind, and spirit, and lead fulfilling lives. Today, we can’t talk about mental health and wellness without talking about social media. While there are many fun things about social media, it has also caused a lot of damage. The suicide rate among young people ages 10-24 increased by 60% since 2010, when social media became a dominant force in our world. Teen girls are at the epicenter of this mental health crisis, much due to how it causes comparisons, results in addiction, increases loneliness, and increases depression. Today, one in three teen girls seriously contemplate attempting suicide, and three in five are persistently sad and hopeless. My hope is for people, especially girls and women, to thrive and live the best lives possible. Social media can keep us from our best lives, but it doesn’t have to be this way. We can learn to master it so it doesn’t master us, so it doesn’t negatively affect our lives, and keep us from becoming the person we want to become.

Allie Marie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a teen girl and young woman, I battled mental health challenges and found a lot of healing through my faith, which helped me discover my value and purpose. I wanted to share that hope with girls and young women, so they would know they have inherent value and worth. We have reached millions through various ways, including our young women’s events, our podcast, mental health workshops, my books, and we recently launched a life coaching program for teen girls. I have had the opportunity to share my story with thousands of girls, and many of whom are survivors of sex trafficking. I am proud that we have brought hope to many girls and women, providing them with the resources they need to heal and live a more fulfilling life. We have heard from many girls that they have found hope to keep pressing through their challenges and have given hope to many who have contemplated suicide.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It has been so fulfilling to identify needs and to creatively find ways to provide hope and resources to solve various issues. As a visionary leader, I have numerous ideas on how our organization can make a significant impact. It is especially fulfilling that the fulfillment of many of these creative initiatives I have envisioned has impacted lives. It is so meaningful to start something from scratch and see it executed. As an author, I have experienced this in a powerful way. While writing is hard and can be lonely, to see a book take shape from the first word to the actual release is a joy.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives my books and work as a visionary Founder and CEO is to bring hope to young women facing difficult challenges. I have a heart for girls because I know how hard this time of life can be for them. The ages between 12 and 24 are crucial to a young person’s well-being and future, and I want to create things to empower them to make it through. From my books, podcast, teaching courses, coaching and other initiative, this is what drives me to stay the course every day.
