We recently connected with Allie Lasorte and have shared our conversation below.
Allie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Great question! I think to be successful you need to have a real passion for what you do—it’s what will keep you going when things get tough. Learning from others is key; connecting with people in your field can give you valuable insights and support. Time management and staying organized are also essential since you’re juggling everything on your own. Don’t be afraid to take a break when you need it, though—being burnt out won’t help you much! And finally, be prepared to make some sacrifices, but know that it’s all part of building something meaningful.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey into the world of skincare began with my own personal struggles. Growing up, I dealt with severe acne that not only affected my skin but my confidence as well. I tried countless treatments, products and routines. Through that process, I developed a deep passion for skincare. I realized how powerful it can be to feel good in your own skin, and I wanted to help others experience that same confidence.
At Sklo Aesthetics, I specialize in personalized skincare treatments that focus on addressing specific concerns, whether it’s acne, aging, or overall skin health. My services range from facials and lash lifts to more advanced treatments like microneedling and chemical peels. What sets me apart is my personal connection to the journey—I’ve been where my clients are, and I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate skincare. My goal is to simplify that process and create a supportive space where my clients feel heard.
I’m most proud of the transformations I see in my clients, not just in their skin but in their confidence!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
After college, I landed a job in marketing, but I knew deep down it wasn’t what I wanted. I wasn’t happy, but the fear of making a big career change held me back. That all changed when my parents were hit by an intoxicated driver and my mom passed away. It was a devastating wake-up call, and I realized just how short and unpredictable life really is. I quit my job and moved home to help my dad, and in that time, I began to reevaluate everything. I decided to go back to school for skincare and finally pursue what I truly love. That decision has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for my business has definitely been a mix of word of mouth and social media. Word of mouth is incredibly powerful—when clients trust you and see real results, they naturally tell their friends and family. That trust is everything. Gaining it takes time, but once your clients believe in you and your services, they become your biggest advocates. Social media has also played a huge role in reaching new people, but it’s the personal recommendations that really drive things forward. Happy clients will share their experience with everyone they know, which brings in even more business!
