We were lucky to catch up with Alli Singletary recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alli thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Believe it or not my business actually started with selling Self Care Kits: a spa in a box you can enjoy at home or on the go ! However, in starting up my own business from scratch I ran into several obstacles. I noticed there wasn’t alot of affordable support for someone in my position to mentor or guide me in the right direction.
I had to take classes, courses and hunt the information down myself.
Once it was all said and done I realized I’m probably not alone and decided to start another stream of income focused on helping others start their dream journey & being that support I wish I had
Alli, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As I mentioned prior my business started around selling Self Care Kits. I have since expanded to now offer Social media management services, small business startup coaching, Wix web design, Content Graphics and even started another retail line focused on Loc products for clients who have Dreadlocs!
I’m most proud of my growth! From starting in a space where I didn’t think I could make it to now expanding into 7 different streams of income has truly been a blessing!
It doesn’t come easy though! One of the hardest aspects of owning your own business is self discipline!
Pushing through the obstacles, slow season and coming out on top consistently!
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
This is a tricky one. When I first launched my business I used a portion of the Covid relief stimulus I received to reinvest back into myself. I bought a few supplies and registered for all of my licenses, LLC, website etc
From there I funded my entire business out of pocket.
Any time I make a sale or recieve a booking it goes straight to my business bank account and stays there to reinvest back into my business.
I’m a firm believer that your business will never crash if you keep reinvesting!
Since then I have put a list together of funding options avaliable for small business owners that I share with my clients when they’re starting up.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Oooo, this is a good one ! The key to social media is always consistency however, you need to find your Target Audience first.
Think of your ideal dream customer and then fill your page with them !
Of course it’s easy to fill the page with followers and send invites to all of your friends but are they really your ideal customer? Will they engage either posts? Share your content? Turn into successful sales? Probably not
Make sure you clean your follower list frequently, weed out those who don’t fit your Target Audience qualifications and watch how much more engagement you recieve!
