We recently connected with Alli Farudi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alli , thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Well first I think you’d have to define success. For me success doesn’t mean making 6 figures and being booked everyday. For me success is doing what I am passionate about, serving my clients with my best self and enjoying the process. But it’s also being able to find time to do all the other things important to me. I think that a lot of us were taught that if we hustle and work all the time, we will be successful. And once we have that we can do all the other things we want to do. And don’t get me wrong there needs to be some hustle to start a business. But I don’t think it’s a long term plan. because working all the time means missing the now… our babies growing up, doing other things we love, traveling the world, all of it. So for me it’s finding balance. And while I know there’s no such thing as actual balance, I do try hard to find time for all the things that matter. For me, it’s being there for my little ones, it’s taking care of my homestead animals and gardens, it’s taking my yoga classes every week and it’s spending time with my most favorite people. Because when I do, I feel fulfilled. And then I able to give the most to everyone, including my clients.
Alli , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a maternity, newborn and family photographer based in Temecula, California. My passion for photography has been lifelong but my career choice in pursing family specifically has had everything to do with my own family. I believe that there are no words to describe the love of a mother for her babies. And while we feel like we will never forget anything and try to take it all in, somehow our memories don’t last. And nothing goes by faster than your baby growing up. They change so much and so quickly. And the sad part is that once that moment has passed, it’s forever gone. So I try to speak my why to mama’s out there as much as I can. I want to be able to capture these fleeting moments for them to be able to cherish forever. My goal is to create beautiful art by capturing each families own pure love and connection. I want mama to feel completely supported in getting the photos she’s dreaming about. I send out a questionnaire to get to know the family, I give her a style and prep guide to help them coordinate outfits and I even offer a client closet to mama so she doesn’t have to worry about what she’s going to wear. Then we plan on one of my beautiful locations in Temecula (usually with seasonal flowers or stunning mountain views). I try to make the session fun and easy so I do this through play. And if the little ones are interested in doing something different, that’s what we do. Happy little ones make for happy sessions! But no matter what happens at the session, I assure mama that I captured the magic between her family.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I am always thrilled hearing back from a client that they loved their photos and will always cherish them. It’s exactly what I want to give them, the most dreamy photos of their family that they can have forever. And hopefully pass down for generations.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I think like most small businesses, word of mouth is the best source of new clients. While I have clients find me on social media sometimes, most are from friends!
