We were lucky to catch up with Alli Elmunzer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alli , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for my business was born out of a unique blend of passion and practicality. At the time, I was working as a lawyer, but on the side, I had a love for photography and was photographing families and weddings. As I spent more time in that creative space, other photographers and creatives started finding out that I was also an attorney and they began coming to me with questions, looking for legal advice they could trust.
What I realized through those conversations was that there was a major gap in the market: creative entrepreneurs and small business owners desperately needed legal support, but the traditional legal world wasn’t speaking their language and often wasn’t even accessible to them. It felt intimidating, confusing, and out of reach.
That’s when I knew I wanted to create something innovative and approachable, a way for entrepreneurs to get legal advice and protection from someone who understood both the legal side and the entrepreneurial journey firsthand. This is when I knew I could help because I knew what it meant to start something from nothing, to hustle, to build something meaningful. And I also knew how crucial it was to protect that dream legally.
I believed that if I could make the law feel empowering instead of overwhelming, I could help business owners grow with confidence. That belief is what got me the most excited — building something that truly served others and gave them peace of mind as they chased their big ideas. That’s how Influencer Legal was born.
Alli , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Alli Elmunzer — attorney, entrepreneur, and founder of Influencer Legal, a law firm designed specifically to support entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners by empowering them to legally protect their businesses so they can confidently grow and scale them.
My journey into this industry was anything but traditional. I started my career in law, but I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. While practicing law, I was also running a photography business on the side, working with families and shooting weddings. Through that creative work, I became deeply embedded in the small business and creator community. Once people discovered I was also an attorney, I found myself being asked for legal help with contracts and trademarks by fellow creatives who didn’t know where to turn or who were overwhelmed by traditional law firms that felt intimidating or out of touch with their world.
It became very clear to me that there was a massive gap in the legal industry — small business owners, especially women, creatives, and online entrepreneurs, needed legal support, but most law firms weren’t built to serve them. I knew I could change that.
That’s how Influencer Legal was born — to offer straightforward, flat-fee legal services that make business protection not only possible but empowering. Today, I help entrepreneurs legally protect their businesses and brands through trademark registration, contract drafting and negotiation, and legal education. I’ve also created a library of DIY contract templates and legal courses to make legal help even more accessible. That way, clients at every stage, whether just starting out or scaling a seven-figure business, can feel confident that their legal foundation is solid.
What sets my work apart is that I truly get what it’s like to be an entrepreneur — to wear all the hats, to take big risks, and to build something meaningful from scratch. I don’t just offer legal services; I offer peace of mind. I translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable tools so business owners can focus on growth and profits, knowing their brand is protected.
I’m especially proud of how many entrepreneurs I’ve been able to help step into their power as CEOs — showing them that legal isn’t something to avoid, but something that supports their success. More than anything, I want people to know that legal doesn’t have to feel scary, boring, or out of reach. With the right tools and support, it can be a powerful growth strategy for your business.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I really feel like I pioneered what it looks like to run a successful virtual law firm on social media by thinking like a startup founder, not a traditional attorney. When I first started, there were very few lawyers showing up the way I was on platforms like Instagram and I saw that as an opportunity to lead.
I was intentional from the beginning about creating a strong brand presence by using consistent brand colors, clean visuals, and messaging that made my content instantly recognizable. I treated my Instagram like a mini website, knowing that many potential clients were discovering me there first. I leaned heavily into educational content because I knew legal topics could feel overwhelming or confusing. My goal was always to simplify, empower, and build trust, not to sell.
That mindset paid off. I positioned myself as an expert by consistently showing up with value, and prioritized connection with other entrepreneurs. And because of that, over 80% of my clients have come directly from social media just by engaging with my content.
For anyone just starting to build their presence: Don’t be afraid to do things differently. Focus on value, not vanity like follower count. Think about how you can serve and connect and remember that building trust is the most powerful marketing strategy there is. Your brand is your reputation, and social media is one of the best tools to shape it intentionally.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to follow someone else’s exact blueprint in order to succeed. In the beginning, I spent way too much money on courses, programs, and strategies trying to copy what others were doing thinking that if it worked for them, it would work for me, too. But the truth is, we all have different experiences, strengths, and journeys and what works for someone else might not be aligned with who you are or how you want to build your business.
I had to let go of the idea that there was a “right” way and instead embrace the idea of experimentation. The best path forward is often through testing, failing, adjusting, and trying again. There’s no one-size-fits-all strategy and comparison is an easy way to just get lost in the crowd.
Once I leaned into doing things differently, trusting my instincts, and creating a brand and business that truly reflected me, everything changed. I stopped trying to blend in and started blazing my own trail and that’s exactly what attracted the right clients. People are tired of the same old. They’re looking for something refreshing, real, and different. Don’t be afraid to be that. The clients who are meant for you will see you because of it.
