We recently connected with Allen Cooper and have shared our conversation below.
Allen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I graduate from Atlanta technical college with an Associate of Applied Science in Photography next month. Knowing what I know now, I would’ve sought a degree earlier in my life. I had to find a photography program that worked for me and my schedule. I work full time and I’ve been all time student since May 2020.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Allen Cooper is a multimedia artist who specializes in portrait and food photography. Born in New Orleans and raised in Atlanta, he is a Southern gentleman with a unique eye for photography. He has over 5+ years of experience in his field and is on track to graduate from Atlanta Technical College in December 2022 with an Associate of Applied Science in Photography. Allen enjoys traveling for projects around the world. He translates his love for people, family, and food into captivating photography. His goal is to show the beauty, and inner light of people and food by capturing photos that brings comfort to your heart.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I saved up to buy my first mirrorless camera by cutting my spending habits and dedicated an account to put all excess funds into. I update my camera every 5 years and I have a business card for equipment purchases.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I receive most of my new clients by referral. My work speaks for itself and I never leave a client dissatisfied.
