We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allen Benatar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Allen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents were always extremely supportive growing up. I always wanted to be a Drummer in a band when I was a little kid. They always told me to follow my dreams and to work hard at whatever I do, and that it would pay off in the long run… and that’s what I did! I started out playing in school plays when I was about 7yrs old and went on to playing my first live show with my first (serious) band at the age of 15. I went on to tour the world and got into Acting along the way. Today I continue to perform as well as run my perfume oil company. It all takes time but hard work always, ALWAYS pays off.
I think the support of my parents made a world of a difference on my path to success. Without the support of family it’s a lot harder in my opinion to get things moving. Especially if nobody understands why you want, what you want. Of course there were always some people in my family who didn’t get it or thought it was a waste of time but as time went on they totally got it. Once someone sees that it’s actually possible to make your dreams a reality, it’s eye opening and inspiring.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born a musician and a computer nerd. I’ve always had different businesses alongside my Music career and excelled at anything relating to computers and technology (Web design, Marketing, Graphic Design). While working on my Music/Acting Career I was able to work from the road on these different companies which was really convenient.
I eventually branched off of the Web Design business and went on to start my own Perfume Oil company. It’s probably the most random thing I’ve gotten into. I’ve always loved different colognes and scents growing up. One day my brother and I decided to come up with our own scent and when people in public started asking about it, I knew I had to start a business around it. I’ve incorporated Pheromones into these scents for natural attraction, and 10 years later I have multiple scents and different products that I’ve created. The best part about it is that I help make people feel confident and excited wearing something that they love. The reviews are awesome, I love getting emails and hearing the stories about how people have “hooked up” or dated their crush from wearing my products. Some of the stories are hilarious and mind blowing!
“Pure Essence” is one of my hottest sellers, and “Lust Pheromone Oil” is another one to die for.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Having a following in Entertainment career really helped me get the word out about my different businesses. Being in the Web Design/Marketing industry has also been very helpful.
If I could give anyone advice on growing their social media presence or marketing their business, I’d say to just be consistent with whatever you do. If you’re not shy, making videos showing your face and speaking to your audience works wonders. If you’d rather not be on camera, you can always hire influencers or actors to promote your products while giving them a percentage for sales they bring in. Creating a custom promo code for them to share is a good way to track the sales.
Advertising your business is not as hard as it seems. There’s so much crap online and videos of people swearing they can teach you to boost your business but if you just focus on the basics, you’ll make progress. Don’t pay for scams and use google to your advantage! When I say “the basics” I mean things like: Google business profiles and maps, Instagram, Facebook Business and Linkedin pages, Pinterest, TikTok are also very useful to help sell products.
As far as the Entertainment industry goes, it’s all the same. If you’re a musician, actor or any kind of artist, your Social Media Presence is everything. Just start with those basics and stay consistent. Post regularly and keep your audience engaged with everything you do. Make sure you do it without being annoying or bragging about your success, some people don’t know the difference between “engaging with your fans” and “talking about what you’ve achieved and only talking about your goals”. It can get redundant and obnoxious. Especially using the same phrases and posting similar things as other people. “follow your dreams” and “be the best version of yourself” make me want to throw up.. But that’s just me. Don’t “follow” anything. Live it.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There ARE some helpful resources on the web that have helped me along the way. Again, you want to steer clear of all the “guaranteed steps to make you rich” bullshit videos and subscriptions but I feel like there are some really good people to follow for inspiration and tips. Gary Vee is actually a really good source of inspiring business info (probably more for the younger crowd). There are also some helpful business podcasts and inspiring speeches on Spotify you can find if that’s something that puts a fire under your ass. There are many books and “idiots guides” on how to grow your business but if you really don’t have the time to read with everything else that you’re doing, you can always hire someone on Fiverr to give you a boost. Fiverr is an excellenttttt place to have logos made really cheap! Website design, graphics, you name it. Use Fiverr to your advantage. I’ve hired many people from that site to do different things I didn’t have the time to do. Do it. Like, today.
