We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Allegra Warren. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Allegra below.
Hi Allegra, thanks for joining us today. One of the toughest things about entrepreneurship is that there is almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Being an entrepreneur definitely has not been easy. There’s so many different challenges and obstacles you will experience along the way,
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication nothing happens overnight. I would find myself staying up late night researching until about 4 am for weeks at a time running off of 2 hours of sleep alarm clock going off at 6 am to get ready for work.
Tons of money was being spent of out pocket, I knew nothing about establishing business credit, filing annual taxes, and let’s not even talk about the annual filing report that I missed the first year I had no clue what it was and as a result, I had to issue out an additional $400 late fee plus the amount due. As a business owner, You will have your great days as well as bad days.
I kept pushing forward started investing in business classes and doing more research to ensure I didn’t make the same mistakes. I always knew it was a rainbow at the end of the tunnel, and for that very reason, I kept pushing forward.
Allegra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing up I’ve always been so in-tuned with the fashion & the beauty industry. I would always want to try new hairstyles and stay up watching my mom do her hair I would get so excited when she would ask for my help.
Hair grew into a passion for me I would not only style my hair but my sister’s & others’ hair as well. They would be so amazed that a 14-year-old could braid hair that good. On weekends instead of hanging out with friends, I would find myself staying in to either braid my hair or try a different style I had seen somewhere.
The older I became the more I wanted to constantly change my hairstyles, and we all know hair can become very expensive. It was at that very moment I knew I was going to enter the beauty industry so everyone can experience this beautiful feeling I have. I started off with the release of my cosmetics line which I loved so much!!
As time passed, I started researching hair vendors, and different textures of hair for about two years to ensure I got it right the first time. And now we have Treasure HER Beauty!!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My best source for new clients has been through social media platforms and creating content. Social media gains the attention from everywhere it takes you out of your comfort zone, you’re able to interact with different potential clients as well as promote your business.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My business was fully funded by myself, I started off by just testing products which eventually led to me starting a business relationship with the perfect vendor. I would make small orders until I eventually had all the products I needed to launch successfully.
