Allee , appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I read somewhere once that unless you photograph what you love, you are not going to make good art.
My husband bought me my first camera in 2017 when I was pregnant with our first child. I documented our life and our journey through parenthood and as the years went on, and as our family grew, I realized just how important those photos were.
Babies don’t stay babies forever and those moments and memories we thought we would never forget, quickly were replaced as each new stage brought new excitement and new milestones.
Being able to look back on those moments was a gift. It was like a ticket back in time that I was so thankful to have.
As a wife and mother, my family is what drives me and now being able to meet other local families and help to capture their memories is my passion.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Allee Mackey and I am a family photographer based in Palm Beach County, I strive to offer affordable, quality photo galleries to local families.
I am a wife and a mother of three little ones.
I know how beautiful (and sometimes challenging) motherhood can be.
I have seen first hand just how fast those years fly by and how bittersweet it is to see our babies grow and change.
I walk into every session ready to capture those sweet, real and raw moments of life.
I am ready to bottle up your memories in a gallery that will allow you to re-visit all of your favorite stages and help you remember each milestone.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Photographers are hired to capture moments in people’s lives, whether they be big or small, and I love that I get to be a part of that.
I love that so many families trust me to document their life.
I get to work with so many amazing and kind people. I have repeat clients that I have gotten really close to.
I have shed tears at a clients wedding as I photographed the bride and grooms first dance.
I have been the first to know of a positive pregnancy test as I shot their announcement.
I have sang happy birthday behind my camera while shooting their child’s party.
Their moments mean something to me. And when you feel attached to the moment and care about your clients, you can create some beautiful art. And to me, that is rewarding.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is and has always been to connect with local families while providing exceptional photography services at an affordable price.
I treat my clients how I would want to be treated. I capture those little moments, those sweet details that I as a mother would want to have in my photo gallery to look back on and reminisce.
I am so extremely thankful for the support and love I receive from our community.
I hope my clients love looking at the photos I deliver to them as much as I love taking them.
