We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful ALLAZEA MARTEL. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with ALLAZEA below.
ALLAZEA, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I have taken was quitting my 9-5 job to solely focus on my business and perfect my artistry. I have quit a lot of jobs. The reason for me quitting and stepping out on faith; is because when I would be at work all I could think of is ” I could be selling my own products” ” I can take this time and create content and etc. Those thoughts alone would literally eat me up mentally. I felt like how am I supposed to make it to where I wanna be if I am giving these companies all of my time. when do I find time to invest in myself and my passion? Its so scary when you do not know when and where the help is going to come from. However I do have a great support system and I was and have been able to maintain. Even though its hard being independent and then having to seek help, Having bills and other prioritized responsibilities is a lot; especially when business is slow and the source of income you were expecting did not come through on time. Being an Entrepreneur /independent contractor and freelancer is tough (DONT QUIT YOUR JOB) unless you know your going to be able to take care of all your needs and responsibilities. The risk I took, I do not regret it because I was able to work on my self. mind body and soul. Its been a journey however I am a soldier and my faith is strong. I know God will never give me more than I can bare. Even though it was tough; A way was always made for me to take care of my business regardless of the stress and uncertainty of where it was going to come from.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Allazéa Martel, I am from Compton, CA. I am a Celebrity makeup artist of 9 years and counting. I busted into the industry with networking and constantly being on the scene. Living and being from California is such an advantage because there is always some sort of event going on. Networking is a huge part of being a makeup artist (or any type of artist) and everyone knows everyone just about. So for other makeup artist referring me is a big deal. (thank you) .
My business “Martel Minks Beauty LLC” was published ‘2021; which will be open for business soon (2024) I have so many great ideas for my brand and business I just wouldn’t want to just put anything out. Makeup is more than just a coin, shade and a shadow. Its about quality and presentation. The products I will be providing is Mink Lashes “of course” & more.
Staying dedicated and not letting go of your passion and dream takes faith, consistency, dedication and discipline. There are so many reasons as to why you need all 4.
What sets me apart from others is each of my clients all look different so I apply their application according to there face, skin and desired look. My clients and I have such a close bond “we are like family” I am a very adaptable person and each of my clients are different. I feel like because I can read a room and energy I know what to give when it comes down for that intimate glam session.
I am most proud of my self because I could have given up on my self so many times and I haven’t and do not plan on it. Even when things get slow and it seems like business isn’t moving the way I need it I still promote myself, create content and stay motivated. The mind set I have now is completely different from when I was younger. I know I will continue to prosper as long as I keep my faith and keep my mind in the most positive setting as possible. What I would love for my future potential clients to know is that each and everyday my hands become greater. I am not perfect but I am working my way to perfection. One day when we meet we have an genuine ,unbreakable bond with understanding and longevity.
I would like for my followers & supporters to know that I am forever grateful for your support and engagement and with out you I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
When listening and or reading about someone else’s journey/dream ; its good to have an open mind and heart. You do not have to fully understand but to make someone feel like you actually care goes a long way. All creatives really seek genuine support. We can do without the judgement. Some of us actually work really hard when perfecting our craft and to satisfy our clients.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is satisfying my clients and making them feel good. Being able to speak positive words of affirmation and connecting with my clients is always a pleasure. Another rewarding attribute of being a artist is having a client come to their appointment in a grey area and leave with a high vibration due to them sitting in my chair. I love that I have such a positive influence and motivation over people. Like I mentioned before, im very adaptable and very intuitive; I can tell when I need to put my counseling hat on or when I need to just be an ear. My clients love me and I love them for letting me be someone they can confide in. I LOVE WHAT I DO!
