We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allan Campbell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Allan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any advice for creating a more inclusive workplace?
I’ve always been a creative person, and living in a small town in Australia often made me feel judged by friends and the community. I felt quite alone during that time. However, when I moved to a big city, everything changed. I made many unique friends from all over the world, each extremely talented. Collaborating with them and feeling part of a diverse community enriched my life. I gained a deeper understanding of various cultural perspectives, which helped me learn more about myself and how to work with people who have different ideas.
Allan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ever since I was a young adult, I’ve been immersed in the creative world, dabbling in photography, videography, and writing. As a professional photographer, I befriended some exceptional individuals who shared their unique perspectives on business. Over the years, I built a substantial network of models, celebrities, and other artists.
Then, in 2020, COVID-19 hit. My entire business was destroyed in a week, with clients returning to their home countries and lockdowns preventing any work. Feeling fed up and isolated, I decided to turn this downtime into an opportunity. I spoke with a good friend and thought, “Why not create a podcast?” I love talking to people and had a vast list of celebrities and models who were also in lockdown with free time.
I launched the podcast that very day. Given my passion for writing and extensive connections, I also started a luxury magazine. Recently, I founded my music label, The Official Concept Records, and have since collaborated with many unique artists.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
Personally, I love the concept of NFTs, but I don’t think the technology is quite ready for us to fully appreciate it yet. In the next few years, when virtual reality is more advanced and widespread, we’ll be able to fully leverage the potential of NFTs. For now, though, their impact feels limited because they’re mostly confined to our phones.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of my business as an artist is the ability to live in the present and fully embrace the moment. Whether I’m interviewing someone on my show or capturing a beautiful image through photography, I find immense joy in expressing my feelings and appreciating each unique instant.
