We were lucky to catch up with Aliza Stanton recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliza, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

In 2008, my family and I started Aliza’s bee removal a live bee removal business in San Diego, CA. Through this, we have been able to safely relocate bee colonies from homes and businesses, to our main apiary in Ramona, as well as other locations around San Diego County. Our mission is allow the bees we rescue to pollinate our city’s beautiful local flora and support local agriculture

Aliza, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Our journey began in 2008 with Aliza’s Bee Removal, a business born from a passion for bees and a desire to protect these essential pollinators. We started with a simple mission: to safely relocate bees from places where they might be at risk or cause issues for people, giving them a new home in our apiaries where they can thrive.
Working so closely with bees, we began to appreciate the incredible products they create, and this inspired us to launch Aliza’s Honey, a natural spinoff of our original bee removal business. With Aliza’s Honey, we wanted to take honey to the next level, showing people just how versatile and delicious it can be. We start with crystallized honey, which we whip to a creamy, spreadable texture and infuse with freeze-dried fruit for added flavor. The result is a unique, fruity creamed honey that’s perfect on toast, in recipes, plan yogurt , oatmeal, and tea or even enjoyed by the spoonful.

Alongside our honey, we also gather beeswax from our bee relocations, transforming it into deeply hydrating skincare products, like our popular beeswax salves. Beeswax is naturally nourishing, especially for dry skin, so our salves are designed to be simple, effective, and gentle on the skin—exactly what you’d expect from an all-natural product.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

At the heart of our brand is a respect for bees and a love for nature. Our products are all-natural, simple, and carefully crafted to share the best of what bees create. Whether you’re enjoying a jar of Aliza’s Honey or applying our beeswax salve, you’re getting something made with care, respect, and an appreciation for the natural world. Our goal is to continue to provide products that connect people with the wonders of nature, one small batch at a time.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

We’re most proud of creating a business that balances the needs of the community with the needs of bees. Helping people understand the importance of bees and supporting them with natural, eco-friendly products brings us incredible satisfaction. It’s rewarding to see our customers enjoy our products, knowing that they are both high-quality and sustainably produced.
