We were lucky to catch up with Aliza Rozenberg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aliza thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
My most unexpected problem, which I continue to try and solve today, is the up-scaling stage of the business. As I started the adventure of owning a statistical consulting group I expected difficulty in finding clients. Quickly I realized that in my field there is a lack of professional statisticians and a high demand. So finding clients was not the main problem, I needed to find more workers…
My biggest dilemma was and still is to find ways to expand my team and work flow while keeping the same level of professionalized, personal touch and individual tailored consulting. I, along with my business partner, attempted different solutions and partnerships over the years with different levels of success but in general terms I we decided and defined for my our company that the quality of the work is of the highest priority, even on at the expense of more business…

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Aliza Rozenberg. I have a Bachelor and Master degrees in applied statistics from Hebrew University. In the past, I have worked as a statistician in the Israeli ministry of health for a few years, in which, along with a business partner named Ilan Yanuv who has advanced degrees in mathematics and operational research, I was in charge of building the statistical aspects of a national quality assurance program in hospitals in Israel as well as other medical research programs.
Following this, Ilan and I ventured out to start a statistical consulting group, named “AI statistics” which offers such services to various companies.
In the beginning we were focused on the medical field including biostatistics, big pharma research, national medical services etc. but quickly we branched out to additional fields such as consulting to actuary departments in insurance companies, consulting Hi-tech companies and startups and application manufactures, government officials etc.
Our mission statement has always been finding personalized, tailored statistical solutions with out of the box thinking and creative problem solving. Our aim is also to provide the standard, computerized statistical analyses required, but also to immerse in the problem at hand and find tailored solutions to complex theoretical problems, as needed.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In our company we put a lot of emphasis on personal touch and creativity. We prioritize finding solutions which are optimal for each problem, and not being satisfied with standard analyses that are commonly used. In addition, we put a lot of effort in providing these solutions and analyses with appropriate, extensive explanations.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We went to university together and met through a mutual friend. Finding a good business partner is key!
We have a similar set of values business wise and both see the great importance of the personal and creative touch I mentioned previously. We are both personable and have great relationships with our clients, but we are also very different and bring different tool sets to the table that are all needed in our line of work.
