We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aliyah Fisher a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aliyah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
As a first time business owner, i ran into many issues and problems. Many of which causes issues within my Marriage. I personally chase instant gratification and when my business took off I developed tunnel vision. This ultimately lead to me making several decisions that negatively effected my business and my marriage that I deeply regret. But over the past year since the last interview, me and my husband (Sterling) have worked through everything. We’ve also developed several new business plans in regards to skincare, real estate, cryptocurrency, and more. Referring back to one of the unexpected issues, I believe scaling was the biggest one. While my husband worked from home on his multiple business, managed certain aspect of my studio. I personally did all the foot work going to our location or going directly to clients homes when they are unable to drive due to being in the post-op stage of their recovery. Once my business scaled to a certain level my schedule became constantly book and meeting everyone’s needs was quite overwhelming. Not knowing how to properly resolve my issues other things occurred and lead to me temporarily shutting down the studio. Now I am back open for business and ready to take on Atlanta and service it’s residence. My husband has also put a lot of his own work to the side to help me scale properly this time. He’s taking on more to ensure my success and I couldn’t be more grateful for a partner like him. His constant belief in me keeps me going, i may give him a little attitude every now and again but in the end he is right (i can’t stand when he’s right). I love what i do and he’s growing to love it as well. My hope is to eventually open multiple locations teaching others to body sculpt and give them a platform to grow off of. While also developing our skin care line to make sure everyone stays glowing. To specify more on the motivation behind skincare, my husband suffers from eczema and it seems all the products nowadays do absolutely nothing for him. So as we work to figure out what would work for him we decided to come up with our own line for people like him and others with any other skin conditions or maybe just someone looking to keep the glow before they ever have to worry about any skin condition. We plan on launching very soon once we get everything up to our standards. One thing about us, we like to make sure we bring quality to the market by any means necessary. The new location for our studio 700 Manassas St,Hampton Ga 30228 Suite #100.

Aliyah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My dream to start Italy Rose Beauty Studio started with my mother. She owns multiple spa location and seeing her work gave me inspiration to start something for myself in the same field but in my own way. Regarding me, I grew up in McDonough GA and most of my life i wanted to be an EMT growing up to help others. Eventually opening my own business to start a woman’s clinic to provide better health care services to the women of Atlanta. While doing research I discovered that many women don’t have their own OBGYN or have never had certain important services done to ensure their bodily and reproductive health. Though that dream has not come true YET, i decided to create something else to help the women of Atlanta. Which brings me to my next point, what do i solve for all potential clients. First and foremost, self confidence is the biggest thing. Nowadays in society we get told what is the perfect look, which has so many of us questioning whether we are beautiful and are we worthy of being called such. With each client i make sure i get to know them on a personal level, several of which open up to me and tell me how much i’ve helped them with their confidence, self esteem, and their overall view on themselves. Though my services are non-invasive and many critics say it doesn’t do anything. I personally have services almost a hundred women, all of which have results and reviews all 5 stars across the board. What sets me apart from most, i don’t do this for attention, clout, notoriety or money. I do this because i love bringing a smile to others face and seeing them fall back in love with themselves. I love hearing the stories from women in my age group about how I’m the reason they can now wear certain outfits with extreme confidence. I love hearing the stories from my elderly clients telling me how they feel revitalized through not only my services but our conversations and my genuine interest in their well-being. What i want any potential clients to know about me or my brand, i basically summarized above. You have a safe place to be vulnerable where we can tailor each and every service specific to their needs within reason to ensure the desired results. This isn’t just another shop where you get what you pay for and you may or may not be satisfied. This is something bit more intimate and specific to each individual. You will be satisfied and you will see results. I’m very transparent and up front with everyone. I never set an expectation that cannot be met. But i also don’t guarantee unrealistic transformation. Some clients may need 1 session, while others may need more. Each case is different and i take my time learning each one. Lastly, I am proud of myself for the most part. I’m proud of my husband and children. Being as young as we are, no matter what life throws at us, we make things happen and we figure it out.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I met my cofounder/business partner at a Honda Dealership where I was interviewing for a job. He happened to peek my interest. Passing by him, ignoring him headed straight to the manager’s desk. I ultimately ended up getting the job and we working closely together. Becoming friends has he was my trainer showing me the ropes of the detailing business we grew close and ultimately we became boyfriend a girlfriend not shortly after. We ended up getting a place together only after knowing each for a month. As we started to get to know each other more we ventured into multiple different avenues including Real Estate, Forex, & Crypto Currency. Day by day we grew closer and life took a turn as we both lost our job only a few months after moving in together. It was a heart breaking time as neither one of us had our own place at the time he was living with family and i was roomating with other women in similar situations as me job hopping. Life continued to get worse, as we ended up homeless and living out of my car, going from hotel to churches and showering at our local planet fitness. While enduring such hard times, Sterling would juggle multiple temp jobs from the local temp agencies and I would do the same. But every time we would get a foot ahead, something would happen in regards to our transportation which would set us back yet again. Many things happened in between this rough patch, but fast forwarding 2 years later we end up getting married and having our first child. After having our first child, we decided it was best to break into the industry once again but this time taking as much time as possible to educate ourselves on business, money management and more to avoid ever having to go through what we once did in the beginning stages of our relationship. At this in time i started a clothing line that was short lived but i didn’t give up. He was getting deep into stocks, real estate, and shoes as he resold popular shoes in Atlanta. All of which occurred at the peak of the pandemic, we ultimately ended up getting pregnant again with our second child and we didn’t know if we could manage but we vowed to figure it out together. Coming into 2021 we decided with the birth of our second child we must take a closer look at our family and what needs to be done to ensure our success while juggling two newborns. After losing several of my jobs and my husband’s businesses slowing down due to the pandemic never getting better and the overall market shift. we were faced once again with the nightmare that once almost ended our relationship in the beginning. So then i he decided to liquidate all of his assets and businesses, and putting all of his efforts and belief into me to help us avoid a nightmare. I came up with the idea for Italy Rose Beauty Studio and took off from there. Despite all the things that happened during business and through our marriage at the time we stuck together, we figured it out, we fought for each other, and we never gave up on each other. No matter what happens i can always say that he has always been here and there for me and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to ensure my happiness and success and with the grow and things I’ve personally endured I am also learning to do the same for him and be the same for him. As he is older and more experienced in certain areas of life especially long term relationships as he was my first serious relationship which is all such a learning experience. We are figuring it all out together and it’s well worth it and I couldn’t of asked for a better partner and i know despite my attitude he loves me unconditionally.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
So i started with just being my authentic self, learning the behaviors of my target audience. I took the time to learn what problems I can solve to make myself stand out. I also took a class on learning social media marketing and then I applied myself regardless of not knowing everything. One thing my husband always taught me is to never have analysis paralysis and that’s the advice I’d also share with anyone looking to start a business. Don’t get caught up in the learning side of things that you forget to apply the things you’ve already learned. You cannot predict anything so apply what you know and figure it out as you go. Always be transparent and honest with your prospects as they will respect you more. Most people tend to sugar coat or lie to their clients and are surprised when the negative reviews roll in. There’s a quote I heard from a speaker named Les Brown, he said “All you can do is all you can do, just make sure you do all you can do. Because all you can do is enough”. When I heard this playing out of my husbands computer I overlooked it and he repeated it several times through our relationship. I control the things I can, I don’t get caught up on the things I can’t. I do my best, and I make sure it is my best. Whatever the outcome is whether good or bad, I take it as a learning moment to improve constantly.
