We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aliyah Ferrell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aliyah below.
Hi Aliyah, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission behind The Amazon Goddess Experience is to display to people how I (The Amazon Goddess) sees the industry. Growing up I was really close with my grandmother and she always said if I want something I just have to put in the work and make it happen. When she passed back in 2020 I made a promise to her and myself that I will be a household name. After dedicating my business to her I worked with so many people that I got the name “Ms Make It Happen” because no matter what we can make something work if you look at it from the right angle.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The Amazon Goddess Experience was a long work in progress. When I was in high school I was in colorguard and got the nickname Amazon Goddess. I got that name because I was the tallest and I barely got dolled up so when I did they were the kindest people. Fast forward to college I joined the fashion group on campus where I got more of a chance to test out my creativity and attend larger scale fashion shows in Chicago. After I graduated I started getting into the scene under this producer who is now a friend and my mentor. I became so invested that I now coach all models, I create video treatments for r&b artists, I produce fashion shows, creative director for any project, I scout models for modeling agencies and I’m a fitness trainer. It may seem like a lot but that’s the beauty behind my business, it’s an experience.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I share my experiences with others to where they want to stay in touch, so I direct them to my social media to give them the visual aspect of the story. And I work closely with a selective group of creatives to show what I can bring to the table for them. I would say authentic and be patient. I’m not too big on so curl media but I became strategic on what I share.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When my grandmother passed that was a huge pivot in my business but in a good way. I was a little lazy at the beginning of starting my business, so she wasn’t about to see some of my accomplishments. But now I work to where I might not wake up tomorrow so let me do this now.
