We were lucky to catch up with Alivia & Jermaille Lloyd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alivia & Jermaille , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
We’ve always had a love for herbal tea, embracing cultures, and gaining new knowledge.
Our city lacks the accessibility to healthy food options. This is essential to the needs of vegans, vegetarians, or anyone looking to fuel a healthy lifestyle. Our choices are limited, but Statesboro is constantly growing with diversity. We are the only Black owned tea & coffee Cafe in Statesboro.
We started off very small and have expanded twice within 2 years in our hometown. At our new location at 721 South Main st, we aim to provide a safe space for diversity in our community. A space where we communicate over tea about the challenges we face, the laughter our souls find humorous, and what our hearts find warm. Since 2015 we noticed a need for something new, something fresh, and something that Everybody would want sum’mo of!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We provide a lite breakfast and lunch menu. Located inside we carry bagged teas, tea tools, hemp, local products and more. Every since opening in 2020 we take pride in being involved with organizations, giveback, sponsoring, and providing good vibes. What sets us apart is that we are true to our brand that stands on diversity and offering a more urban city experience. We believe that our generation is responsible for setting the standard for what the years to come will bring. We are most proud of connecting with our local and new residents that has supported us. We take pride in listening to them and highlighting the creativity and gifts we all have.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients has come from participating in Downtown events and being involved with the community. We show our face when ever we can and that’s important to the people you count on. We try not to miss any events or opportunity to represent our business brand. Meeting new people face to face is essential to marketing and directing people to your social media outlets. Our community loves us and we love them.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We keep in touch with our customers through email marketing. Subscribe to our website to stay updated on news and events. You can pickup a rewards cards at our location for discounts and loyalty points.
