We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alison Midollo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alison below.
Alison , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
My first client actually messaged me directly on LinkedIn! She saw from my experience I had graduated from the same health coaching training program that she had just completed & was looking for guidance & support starting out. After getting on the phone to connect, I had my first client & my business mentorship program was born!
Alison , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I like to call my business my heart work. GUIDED BY AM has become an extension of my own unique energy that teaches, shares + guides simple, sustainable + self-care that is unique to you. I know that self-care (and the intention for showing up) is different for each individual. I am here to guide the collective to slow down + return home to self in a way that is aligned + correct for their own authentic energy. Reflecting on the many parts of me are my ever-evolving guidance + offerings, all of which are self-care services.
My unique approach to studying the mind + body system led me to create my own movement method, AMyoga, launch my own health coaching practice, AMhealth, and my core 5-week group coaching program, The Self-Care Squeeze and Squeeze Stress Away. After learning (well, mostly unlearning) so much along the way, I announced my business mentorship program, The 6 Month Squeeze, and launched my self-care membership site, GUIDED BY AM. Right now, I am traveling all across the globe sharing my teachings, tools + practices on tour with Retreat with AM, a restorative series of self-care retreats.
Over the years, I’ve stayed connected to fashion + worked with brands including Free People Movement, Toesox, and Tavi Noir, franchise studios like Club Pilates, and nonprofits like the Girl Scouts and The New York Junior League. “Make Lemonaid with AM”, my flow and fundraising initiative has generated $5,000+ for Treehouse, The Loveland Foundation, Hope Roots, No Kid Hungry, and The Trevor Project.
You can find me guiding my growing community to slow down, rest and choose self-care so that they can prioritize themselves by building sustainable healthy habits and nourishing self-care routines – And taking care of my energy on repeat as I do the same!
My philosophy is rooted in self-care + slowing down. My mission is simple – to guide you to create and live your zest life with self-care, intention + ease. I love supporting others in mastering their own unique energy + creating a lifestyle practice around what works + feels best for them.
Setting myself apart from others is embodying + trusting my own unique energy naturally makes everything I do, share + create unique. Although I believe we are all here to teach one thing – self-love + self-acceptance – we just each do it in our own authentic way. My work is grounded in the energetic ripple effect that our self-care saves the world.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I thrive in person! So the best source of new clients for me is always meeting others while I am out & about in my life wherever my self-care takes me. It’s the in person community connection & networking for me! I love to stay involved in local projects whether it’s volunteering or part time work. I always seek out events, workshops & trainings in yoga communities specifically because I find that’s where my clients are (because it’s where I love to be!). I also value continuing education like personal development & business development group programs & have met so many clients from this area of study. Typically, if I am putting my energy where my passion is, I am meeting others who are curious to connect & collaborate in business. It’s super organic, non-structured & a big success for me!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I unlearned is that business is going to look the same forever once financial stability is established. Turns out that could not be more untrue! When first starting my business & creating income self-employed, I believed I was going to end up finding that one source that worked for me & that it would work for life! Just like in life, nothing stays the same forever. So the biggest realization for me was unlearning constant in business & relearning change, growth & evolution. It helped me heal a very deep dependency on money, remaining the same and doing business one way. After a lot of rewiring work & acquiring self-care tools, I now know how to practice sourcing my security & stability from within while circulating wealth while accepting, allowing & using change as my business blueprint & roadmap which turns out is unique to me!
