Alright, ALISON thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?

Since I just got back from two and a half weeks in Europe, and my first “real vacation” since 2019, I thought this was a perfect question to answer.

Being the CEO of a small business, it is difficult for me to stop working at all, much less for a vacation. Although I try to establish a schedule and adhere to it, I rarely do. There is always something to do, and there is always something happening 24/7.

I love to travel, and am fortunate to travel often. However, when I travel, I bring my phone and laptop with me so I can keep Metal Babe Mayhem running smoothly, and I am always on the hunt for new business ventures.

Recently, I planned ahead and got all my ducks in a row so I was able to disconnect and enjoy a real vacation.

ALISON, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I grew up in the Midwest and was raised by a loving and supportive family. I spent quite a lot of time working with music and fashion, doing both retail sales and marketing/promotions. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications in 2004, I decided to it was time to spread my wings and fly… to Los Angeles, CA.

My love for music and fashion inspired me to branch out and start my own business in September of 2006. Metal Babe Mayhem, “Where Music And Fashion Meet”
was born.

I have been working hard for the past 16 years to create a “one stop rock shop.” MetalBabeMayhem.com specializes in unique rock n’ roll related clothing, jewelry, and accessories. We also provide entertainment in the form of interviews, reviews, videos, and streaming.

We have 500 products available at MetalBabeMayhem.com, including men’s and women’s clothing, hoodies, beanies, leggings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, licensed band merch, shoes, dolls, totes, make-up, patches, pins, and more.

In addition to music and fashion, I am also an advocate of health, fitness, and living a healthy lifestyle. I recently certified as a personal trainer and created Metal Babe Fitness to coincide with this new development. With Metal Babe Fitness, I offer a variety of active wear including tank tops, t-shirts, crop tops, hoodies, sports bras, shorts, leggings, and drawstring bags.

I pride myself on excellent customer service and ensure every customer has an interpersonal experience. I like to keep that small business feel and include a handwritten thank you note with each order. I also like to throw in free gifts to let customers know I appreciate them.

Metal Babe Mayhem is more than just an online store, it’s a destination. I am honored that I have been able to create a worldwide community of “Metal Babes” where everyone is welcome.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I believe a combination of integrity, support for others, and excellent customer service helped build my reputation within this market. You are only as good as your word, and to me, my word is everything. I believe in supporting others, and cross-promote within my team of affiliates. As mentioned previously, I pride myself on excellent customer service.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Word Of Mouth is the best source of new clients for Metal Babe Mayhem. I am honored and so appreciative to have so many supporters spreading the word for me… Whether it’s in the form of wearing my products, taking photos and posting them on social media, handing out cards in their local area, or by even getting a Metal Babe tattoo.

As I’m writing this, I got a text from a supporter that says “I truly love handing out your cards and telling people about your merchandise.” This means the world to me, and I appreciate every one of my supporters from the bottom of my heart.
