We recently connected with Alison Graham and have shared our conversation below.
Alison, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to make a comfortable, enjoyable, empowering environment for people to workout. I want my clients to enjoy working out. Workouts were not always enjoyable to me. It all started about 5 years ago when I hired a coach for myself wanting to stop the yo-yo dieting and heal my relationship with food. When really the relationship I ended up healing was the one I had with myself. For that I am forever grateful for. So much so I wanted to do the same for others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I made the decision to get certified, ordered my books. Two weeks into studying, my brother went missing in a kayaking accident. We found his body four days later. This traumatic event took a large toll on me and I even contemplated quitting. I didn’t! It took me longer then anticipated to finish but I followed through and got certified. But I think that drive is what sets me apart from other programs. I don’t give up. A coaches job is to believe is you when you don’t have the belief in yourself. I love finding creative ways to modify workouts so everyone at every level can move and feel PowHERful!
I’m most proud of the way that I have created this environment of people who all strive for better everyday. They all encourage one another and inspire me daily.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth! People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. I have something special because not only is it personalized training in a private gym. I thrive on seeing my clients build belief in themselves. Every one of my clients I genuinely care for. Every workout is created specifically for their needs and goals. And that is the only advertising I do. I care for my clients.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I worked for several gyms in the area before finding the courage to open my own. Knowing it was probably what I should have done from the start but to be honest with you, I didn’t have faith in myself. I think the thing that really helped give me that nudge was the time a man collapsed with a heart attack in my class. I performed CPR on him and he lived. That is not something I would wish on anyone but it did show me that I had more guts then I was willing to give myself credit for. All of a sudden opening a gym didn’t seem so scary.
