We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alisha Glenn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alisha below.
Alright, Alisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I have so many ideas in my head. I’m one of the people that wants to try everything at least once.
But of course every leader has to make a decision. So I checked off a couple ideas and put it in motion.
This next one wasn’t even on the list,
Starting Boss 2 Boss Leadership Foundation wasn’t even up there. An associate of mines came to me about it. Next thing you know we took took off. Working on the mission statement. I started talking to close friends and family about it. I called my mentor she was like why do you want to start this. I pitched the mission to her. She was quite at first so I’m like okay….
She shouted out yes! This is you soul sister. I was so excited she was on board.
Execution was big for me, my mind was on the go. Checklist, lets go! It was so exciting, the feeling that this right here was it. This is what’s going to make the city shake. Making an impact on peoples lives, can’t no one take that from you. The next hour, year, month and year was work so knowledge I had to soak in, and still soaking. You have to be willing to constantly be a sponge will maintaining and trusting yourself through the process. You’re learning more about the people around you, their character, there personalities, workmanship.
Now, the mission statement was made, the team, the vision had to be spoken in front of a crowd. Gathered my close friends and family together and had a luncheon. This is when you have to believe the power of word of mouth. This is what was needed to bring help Boss 2 Boss Leadership Foundation to spread. I got a camera man from that luncheon content was made. Social media advertisement was made.
I started connecting with other nonprofits and business in the community, lending them a helping hand. I’m active in the community. It was always active, I just stuck with a few people. Now I’m over. While continuing to help people in the community. Boss 2 Boss ended up having a a few car washed to raise money, we also had a mini back to school giveaway.
People are seeing Boss 2 Boss. Now people not asking me to help, there asking Boss 2 Boss to help on join in on different community events that are transpiring.
I always connecting ad researching ne ways to help Boss 2 Boss Leadership Foundation to grow.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
One thing about me I can bring people together. That’s one of the qualities I love about myself. Now it took me time to realized that was one of my strengths. A few years I was I isolated myself from the world. I made changes that not only impacted myself it impacted my children, husband and close family. I tell people today I can never apologize for that moment in time. When I look back I see a person who was confused, who doubted her self, someone who didn’t see there self worth.
I look in the mirror today and see an amazing women, someone who is not easily broken, someone who thinks before they react, a jovial, optimistic, ambitious go getter! That’s what I’m most proud of. When I found out who I was, and what I wasn’t going to put up with, my outlook changed. My mindset opened me up to so many avenues. What I was capable of and now I’m a multi business owner, I own a nonprofit.
One of the best advice I give is “Never talk about that girl, you don’t know what it took for her to get here.”
and I always say “No question is a stupid question” That question could of landed you success.
Discipline yourself, stay stay organized and do a check list. You will get more accomplished if you check it off and keep adding on it’s okay.
Boss 2 Boss Leadership Foundation is a 501 c (3)
Boss 2 Boss was something that popped in my head. I feel we all are Boss in our own way. But I looked at your mindset. Bossing up in your head, realizing your strength and weaknesses. Capitalizing on that to move to the next level in your life.
We also have a slogan “Boss up with your mind, and let your success fall in line”
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has helped me build reputation within the community is showing up for your connections, showing up for the people who are investing in you, showing up for the ones who support you.
One of the main things is simply being you. I feel you can’t do any of the above until you first know how to show up for you first, and everything else will fall in place.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch by sending affirmations, I by there product and do check ins and so.
