We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alisha Collins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alisha below.
Alisha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Becoming a full time entrepreneur was a huge risk for me. I took the leap in 2016 and never looked back. I had been so used to working in an office, mostly the banking industry. I would find myself leaving my 9-5 to work for my own business and I would just be so drained. To be honest, once I knew I needed to take the leap I didnt do it right away because of fear of failure. I knew for about a good year prior to the leap that I needed to.
In hindsight, I can say that I’m grateful that I did it, because it was something for ME. I wasnt feeling like I was fulfilling my purpose previously so taking on The Lish Agency full time was the right direction to doing that.
Alisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Lish, and I do creative advertising and branding. I started off my career as a freelance graphic designer and email marketer. Eventually I wanted more so I started moving more into management and strategy.
I help my clients to develop brand identity and creative campaigns for their products and services.
I always say “I don’t build brands, I build lifestyles” meaning the goal is to always reach the point where the brand is recognized as a lifestyle. Its a necessity and essential for the customers that it serves. In order to build to a lifestyle brand, it takes consistency, quality and trust. That’s where I come in!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has always been word of mouth. I provide efficient and quality service for my clients so when it comes to recommendations I usually at the top of the list UNLESS a client wants to keep me a secret lol.
In my opinion, word of mouth is better than any commercial or marketing mailer you can send out. It’s always a good practice to advertise, but word of mouth promotes you better than any thing else because its like a live proof of concept straight from a trusted source.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My long-term goal is to be like the “Hood Oprah” The only thing I mean by that is, Oprah was a resource, she’s into philanthropy. I want to be that same way. “You get a car, you get a house, you get funding” That’s where I’m tryna be. Oprah also had a magazine and a talk show. I want those things to. It’s like The Lish Agency is what I’m great at and the Hood Oprah title is more aligned to my purpose.
