We were lucky to catch up with Alisha Collins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alisha, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
“Taking risks” is a regular part of my journey. I’ve never been afraid to be uncomfortable and I love to challenge myself to doing new tasks. With this mix, I’ve been successful when expanding my company and the services that I offer. I would definitely recommend that if you’ve been scared or hesitant to try something out, just give it a try. You’re worried if you’ll fall, but what if you FLY?!
Alisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my career off as a graphic designer. I love love love using my creative mind to build cool projects for ads and campaigns. I officially became a graphic designer in 2011 but I was always playing with the art programs on my gigantic Microsoft computer LOL. After a while, I started to want to do more. So I started to mentor business owners in Marketing and Social Media. At a few companies, I used to take on roles that I’d never done before so that I could learn from the bottom up. I’ve ran social media accounts, did email marketing and so much more for years. So when it came down to telling someone else how to do it, it was such a pleasure. Between consulting and brand management, I love them BOTH.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
So PIVOT was my theme word in 2022. I use theme words in my life to push me throughout the year. As a creative, I feel like we’re constantly pivoting. I have like thousands of ideas in my head naturally. I can’t always entertain them all, some are for others when I consult, however, the ideas that I do try out turn out to be full-blown brands that I launch LOL. Currently, I have two additional brands that I started and run that have caused me to pivot into learning about different industries. Wearing those hats have been so fulfilling and I love it.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me, the ultimate goal is philanthropy. I aspire to make a change in this world. I have such a huge heart and I know that the best way to use it is to give back to others. I love being creative, so merging creative and philanthropy is a no brainer. I love to create different projects, resources, etc.
