We recently connected with Alisa Whitner and have shared our conversation below.
Alisa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I was working at least 2-3 jobs at times just to make ends meet and provide for my son, daughter and my mother who was living with me at the time. It was extremely hard. i was working corporate and doing uber /lyft on the side and one day my boss called us into the office at work to lay a group of individuals off. Of course I automatically went into panic mode not knowing how I will provide for my family. I was scrolling on Instagram and came across some individuals advertising the Body Sculpting Class. I took my severance pay and invested into the class. I created a business plan and presented it to some investors who then invested into my brand. The name of of the Business comes from my initials. My sisters and I share the initials T.A.S.T. and I added the I and body to make it TASTIBODY.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

With Braiding, Its always been something I was naturally good at. Ive been braiding since I was 12 years old. I started taking clients at the age 18. It be came a hustle for me, but now I was to make a brand as well.
I think my customer service and hands on skills sets me apart from others. I’m really great at what I do and I have great energy that attracts people to me and my brand.
I am most prouf of my will power to keep going no matter what obstacles I have to overcome. Tastibody will be 5 years old in December 2023, and I hope to continue my brands and Legacy to leave behind for my kids to take over
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have so many stories where I was forced to be resilient. The most important one that stood out the most was when I pregnant with my last daughter last year in 2022. I just started at a new shop. I fired all of my staff so it was just me. I had help moving everything to the new location, but I had to set everything up and put it in its place. I had 3 suites and it was just me trying to manage it all. It was a lot for because the energy level of the pregnant version of me was no where near my regular non pregnant level. I was used to having the staff to help with certain tasks and projects but it was just me. I was able to work through most of my pregnancy, I stopped working in August and gave birth at the end of September. I was very thankful and blessed to have a beautiful healthy baby girl. But when I stopped working I closed the shop until I was ready to start back. I didnt start Back until May of 2023. I only started back part time doing Braids and Body sculpting out of my home. I then jumped into an Office Suite in June 2023 which was one of the best decisions I made. Sometimes we have to just sit back and put the plan on pause , it doesn’t mean you have failed but Life happens and we have to do what is best for us at the time.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Be careful who you trust your business information with, I hired my first employee and she later left to start her career in psychology from what she told me. I soon found out she started her own body sculpting business and tried to steal my whole journey. The crazy part is I teach classes and I taught her everything for free just to get the help but she never even mention she wanted to go that route. I would have helped her and been her mentor, its enough money for us all .
