We recently connected with Alisa Arnhalt and have shared our conversation below.
Alisa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Almost overnight, COVID kept people home. They worked from home, ate from home, entertained themselves at home, and suddenly the home became a very important place. One of the biggest trends we have seen in the industry is the importance of having a beautiful space at home when this has become the place where most people spend their time. Furnishings need to be practical, rooms need to serve multiple purposes, and designating “getaway” areas in the home have become a top priority. As we are venturing back into normal life again we are still seeing the importance of creating beauty at home at an all time high because it provides the organization and peace families need to sustain their busy lives.
Another big trend we are seeing in the interior design industry is the desire to create a beautiful space without investing too much on any one piece. Homeowners that worked with designers 10 years ago are realizing they loved the space 10 years ago but now the mauve floral sofa feels outdated and they have a hard time letting it go because the custom piece cost $11,000. Today they want a fresh look, quality pieces, and at a price where they know it is okay to change some elements out in the future because one day that green velvet sofa we all love won’t excite us the same way.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Linden Creek Home Staging was founded in 2017 with a passion for creating beautiful spaces. We specialize in the luxury real estate market and love generating a 5 to 15 times return on their investment. Our curated collection of furnishings and styling items set the homes apart in the marketplace and generate overwhelming interest from buyers.
The excitement about our staging designs spilled into helping buyers in their new homes and so we built Linden Creek The Studio, a firm focused on elevated everyday living. We guide clients through new builds, renovations, and furnishing projects to create the space they desire.
At Linden Creek, our clients become our friends. If you overheard conversations in our office, you’d hear us beaming about how much we love them.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes! I wish I had known just how easy it was to work with wholesale trade accounts. This allowed us to purchase furnishings at a much more affordable price point.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started Linden Creek Home Staging, I thought we would introduce ourselves as a firm that offered base level homes staging services and the more I familiarized myself in the local real estate market, the more I realized the luxury market was heavily unserved. I also realized our designs met that niche very well. Despite my concerns of limiting our client base, I made the conscious decision to pivot our marketing and brand to serve the luxury real estate niche and it was a decision that catapulted us into the success we have today.
