We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aline Boulgourjian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aline below.
Alright, Aline thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Five years ago I leaped into the staging world without much experience. I had extensive education of the marketing and advertising worlds and a passion for design and home decor. Most stagers are advised to strip homes of personality, making them look beautiful yet emotionally detached spaces. My marketing background told me otherwise, so I decided to go against the grain and build a business that was rich in bringing personality to properties. Our boutique staging company brings a high level of detail and story-telling, which capture the joys of Life. We specialize in curating vignettes such as bread making items on the kitchen counter, themed children’s rooms, musical instruments, couples’ retreat corner, spa-like bathrooms, and so on. As expected, the buyers psychologically connected with the function of the spaces, and their home buying experience was elevated. This in turn helped the seller fetch a higher price point.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Our service is personal and responsive. Most homes are the biggest asset the seller holds and we don’t take the responsibility to maximize their potential lightly. Every property, from a 12 Million Dollar home in Los Feliz to a small fixer condo in LA deserves to show it’s best. We understand the needs of each seller as an individual and always do our best to bring their property to the spotlight. We also understand that the moving and selling process is a stressful one. At this point in their journey, we like to bring solutions to the table and make the process a smooth one.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me of being a creative is to see the transition of my thoughts and imagination to real life by the end of install day. When we walk through a property, initially it could be still furnished with the homeowner’s items or it could be vacant. The story starts to take shape as I’m absorbing my surroundings and imagining a certain piece of art here and a unique lamp there. The color palate starts to develop, and furniture pieces start to pop in my head. We create a room with respect for flow; highlighting the architectural details of the structure. Later at the warehouse, we develop our list and make our selections based on that vision. But the most rewarding part is when that vision comes to life. When we receive countless messages from the home owners or agents amazed at the transformation, we know we’ve done a great job, and that’s our reward.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Our best source for new clients is referrals and word of mouth. We don’t advertise much and have limited social media presence. Most clients come to us because they have seen one of our staged homes and want the same level of detail and creativity for their listing.
