We recently connected with Alina Povarich and have shared our conversation below.
Alina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The launch of Radiant Rehydration started as a dream – literally. One night I had a vivid and detailed dream of running a mobile IV hydration clinic out of an old beat up van and the inspiration grew from there when I woke up. The next day I immediately began researching IV hydration clinics, mobile IV hydration structures across the country, the legalities of a nurse owning/operating this type of business, and reaching out to friends and connections involved in similar businesses; the ball got rolling rapidly. Fast forward 6 months when Radiant Rehydration came to life from that dream minus the old van. A large part of my preparation was researching Missouri health laws, nailing down a great lawyer, finding medical suppliers and pharmacies, a medical director to work with, and learning numerous skills such as graphic design, website building, safety of IV vitamins, and more. I’ve quickly learned you wear every hat under the sun when you’re a business owner. It’s an exciting and nerve racking process. I am less than a year into operating Radiant Rehydration and it’s thriving. It requires a lot of time and hard work but I couldn’t be happier with the direction it’s headed.
Alina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My background and experience in healthcare gave me the confidence to launch Radiant Rehydration. I am a nurse who loves starting IVs, doing infusions, and making people feel better quickly. Over the years I would hydrate my friends on bachelorette trips, family when they were sick, and a bride on her wedding day – my amazing sister in law. I enjoyed doing this type of work so I figured why not make it a business model. I could envision the type of clients who would benefit from these services and enjoy the rejuvenating benefits. I offer IV hydration with vitamin and medication therapy along with vitamin and medication injections (shots). My most popular services are IV infusions of immune and beauty boosting vitamins, B12 shots, and stomach bug IV hydration blends with nausea medication. I see instant results in clients who are fatigued, dehydrated, fighting off a cold and those who are in bed with a stomach bug and unable to keep food and water down. The results from IV hydration are instant and it’s incredible to see people perk up and feel better in less than an hour.
The biggest factor which sets me apart from IV hydration clinics is I am strictly mobile. Meaning I hydrate clients in their homes, approved public locations, at pop-up events partnered with local businesses, or large parties for events – bachelor/bachelorette groups, weddings, corporate health events and more. This has been a large selling point for many clients. Who wouldn’t want a nurse to hydrate them from their couch when they aren’t feeling well? Why go to the ER to pay thousands of dollars and waste hours in a crowded hospital? Another perk of mobile hydration is it is easily paired with spa and aesthetic services. Imagine you’re getting a facial, a blow out, or lip filler and you’ve got an IV hooked up to you making you beautiful from the inside out. That’s my idea of indulgent and relaxing self care!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of clients for me has been word of mouth referrals from friends, family, and collaborating businesses. Word of mouth is the strongest form of marketing and it was my goal when I first launched Radiant Rehydration. I think I speak for most of us when I say we are more likely to buy a product, visit a restaurant, or purchase a service when one of our friends can vouch for it. We trust the opinions of our loved ones – their opinions hold value and truth – especially when they have gone through the experience.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that failure is bad. Many of us grew up striving for perfection. Well, I call B.S. on that. Perfect doesn’t exist. We all have to start somewhere and be new at something. We have to fail and be bad at it before we get good. Failure is an opportunity to learn; it’s an opportunity to grow and notice areas of improvement. It’s a painful lesson, but a very important one and the biggest lesson starting this business has taught me. Now when I fail I look for things I can work on, improve, refine and skills I have yet to learn. It’s an incredible feeling to not let failure tear you down but instead motivate you to do better next time and fuel you to grow as a person and business owner.
