We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alina Poloboc a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alina, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I have often thought that if I had started my artistic career when I was younger, I might have progressed further in my professional journey by now. I would have organized more exhibitions and gained much more experience in this field.
However, upon reflection, I realize that if I hadn’t begun my career so late, I might not have been as motivated to make up for lost time, and I wouldn’t have cherished my work for such an extended period. I was constantly searching for myself, my place in the world, and my ideal profession.
Because I had been active in the television industry and maintained a very active social life, this greatly facilitated my transition to becoming a painter. Everything seemed much more manageable.
It’s never too late to start pursuing what truly makes you happy, particularly when it pertains to your profession. It all hinges on your desires and goals.

Alina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
“I am a woman who never imagined she would become a painter. I have always had a natural inclination towards creativity and a unique perspective of the world. I started painting at a young age, driven by a love for discovering new things and exploring my own identity.
Despite studying International Relations in the Republic of Moldova, I never worked a day in the field after graduation. Instead, I spent around three years working in television in my home country. At the age of 22, I embarked on a new adventure by moving to Italy, specifically to Bolzano, a city in northern Italy near the border with Austria. I fell in love with that little corner of heaven, where nature and tranquility were truly magical and inspirational. It was there that my journey with art began.
Experimenting with oil on canvas, I delved into the world of textures, color mixtures, and the essence of painting itself. With my first earnings, I invested in basic colors, a brush, and cotton paper—arguably the best investment of my life.
During my one-year stay in Italy, I created several paintings, though they remained unseen by many, shared only with a select few. I began to feel limited and restless in the quiet and monotonous environment of Bolzano.
For the Pastora 9 years, i have been living in Mallorca. My time there has flown by. I have organized numerous exhibitions and painted over 400 pieces of art. Honestly, I can’t even believe how much I’ve accomplished in just a few years. Sometimes, when I reflect on this, I feel proud because I had the courage and strength to pursue my dream, even during moments when giving up seemed tempting.
“In Spain, I sold my first painting, and it was an unforgettable day. The money I earned was not substantial, but it held great significance for me. I was surrounded by many kind, open, and suportive people. I consider myself fortunate. While not everything unfolded as easily as I wished, I choose to remember and cherish the beautiful and positive moments of my life.
I am grateful to the universe because, no matter where I am in the world, I feel protected and encouraged to create more and more.
Every country I’ve lived in has influenced me in some way—its culture, music, food, people, the energy of the city, and nature. This influence is readily apparent in each collection of paintings I create. I developed a love for Spain, where I learned to dance bachata and salsa, two incredibly passionate dances. I also adore the culinary delights of Spain, such as paella, lobster stew, pa-amb-oli, aioli, tortilla Española, gambas al ajillo and gazpacho. I eagerly anticipate returning to Spain to savor all the things I love.”
Being a painter and making a living from it is very challenging. At the moment, I split my time between two countries: Spain, specifically Palma de Mallorca, where I am a resident, and the USA, Miami, where I love to spend a significant part of my time. I enjoy visiting art galleries and draw inspiration from the creativity and energy of this vibrant city.”

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
“My opinion about NFTs for an artist are very positive. Firstly, I love to explore everything that is new, modern, and futuristic. Additionally, an artist must always stay abreast of new developments that can make them special and unique. It’s about continually exploring new possibilities within your field.
At the very least, give it a try; it doesn’t cost you anything. I live by the belief that it’s better to experiment and see if I like something than to have regrets.
Personally, what I like most about NFTs is that some of the advantages of investing in them include: Anyone can invest in NFTs. Investing in tokenized assets is accessible to everyone. Asset ownership tokenized into an NFT can be transferred more easily and efficiently among people anywhere in the world.”
NFTs can represent digital or real-world items like artwork and real estate. “Tokenizing” these real-world tangible assets makes buying, selling, and trading them more efficient while reducing the probability of fraud.
One approach is to create and sell your own NFTs by minting them and listing them on marketplaces. Another option is to trade NFTs, buying low and selling high based on trends and popularity. Renting NFTs to others for use in games or niche platforms can also generate income.
“I think that for an artist, this represents a new world, providing the opportunity to sell art in a safe and much simpler way.”

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
‘It allows me to be creative and free to express my feelings and experiences through art. Art is freedom and liberation without limits. I love the fact that I can be myself and let myself be carried away by the wave of creativity. Also, the fact that I leave something behind me, the history of my life imprinted on canvas, paper, walls, and other mediums. I love collaborating with other artists or creative individuals. You always walk away with a new lesson and experience.
Honestly, for me, the fact that I can be an artist is the greatest gift of life. It is a completely different world, with genuine people and their unique, crazy, and free visions. What could be more beautiful?”
