Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alina, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I began my journey by completing a professional photography school to build a strong technical foundation and understand all the essential aspects of the craft. From the very beginning, I was deeply inspired by nature and by children — their innocence, their authenticity, and how incredibly fast they grow. I realized how important it is to preserve these fleeting moments for families.
When I discovered the artistic style of newborn photography, I immediately knew this was what I wanted to specialize in. To refine my skills, I invested in multiple professional newborn photography courses where I learned safe posing techniques, how to work with fussy babies, and how to handle both the technical and creative sides of the process.
Even after eight years in the field, I continue learning with every single session. Each baby is unique, and every experience teaches me something new.
Looking back, what helped me grow faster was continuous education, hands-on practice, and learning from experienced mentors. Newborn photography is a specialized field, and investing in proper training is essential.
The most important skills in this profession are understanding how to safely pose and handle newborns, confidence in your work, patience, and genuinely loving what you do. Babies can feel your energy, and creating a calm, safe environment is just as important as the technical side of photography.
One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was building confidence and experience, but with time, education, and passion, that confidence naturally grows.

Alina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
One of my greatest strengths is the level of hands-on experience I’ve built over the years. I work with a high volume of newborns and photograph a minimum of four newborn sessions each week. This consistency allows me to continuously refine my technical skills, work efficiently, and confidently handle a wide range of baby personalities and situations. Every baby is different, and this experience helps me stay calm, patient, and adaptable during each session.
I also provide a full-service experience for my clients. My studio is fully stocked with a carefully curated collection of wraps, outfits, headbands, bonnets, and props, so parents don’t have to worry about preparing or bringing anything. Everything is styled and prepared in advance to create a cohesive, beautiful look that matches their preferences.
Being a mother myself is another important part of my approach. I understand how precious and delicate this stage is, and how important safety and trust are for parents. Newborn safety is always my top priority. I work gently and patiently, follow safe posing practices, and create a calm, warm environment where both baby and parents feel comfortable and cared for.
What also sets me apart is the combination of experience, personalization, and consistency. Because I photograph newborns regularly, families can trust not only the artistic quality of the images, but also a smooth, organized, and stress-free experience from start to finish.
My goal is always the same — to make parents feel confident, supported, and relaxed, while creating timeless images that preserve one of the most meaningful moments in their lives.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes, what started as a passion gradually grew into my full-time business.
Photography first began as a creative interest and a side project while I was building my skills and exploring different genres. After completing professional photography school and gaining a strong technical foundation, I started offering sessions on a small scale. At the time, I was simply focused on learning, practicing, and building my portfolio.
As I began sharing my work, especially newborn and maternity sessions, I quickly realized how meaningful this type of photography was — not only for me, but for the families I worked with. Word-of-mouth referrals started to grow, more clients were reaching out, and my schedule slowly began to fill.
One of the key turning points was when I decided to fully specialize in newborn photography and invest in advanced training focused on newborn safety, posing, and workflow. Specializing helped me refine my style, create a consistent experience, and position myself more professionally in the market.
Another important milestone was creating a fully equipped studio space with a curated collection of props, outfits, and accessories. This allowed me to offer a full-service experience and elevated the quality and consistency of my work.
Over time, the demand continued to grow, and what started as a side hustle naturally transitioned into a full-time business. Today, I photograph multiple newborn sessions each week and work with families throughout their journey — from maternity to newborn, milestones, and first birthdays.
Looking back, the growth didn’t happen overnight. It was built through consistency, continuous education, reinvesting in my business, and truly caring about each client’s experience. Each stage of growth — from my first paid session to a fully booked schedule — has been an important milestone.
What I’m most proud of is that my business grew organically through trust, referrals, and relationships with families who come back year after year.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is knowing that my work has lasting emotional value for families. Newborns change so quickly — sometimes within just days — and being able to preserve those tiny details and fleeting moments is incredibly meaningful.
What makes it especially rewarding is seeing the emotional reaction from parents when they receive their images. Many of them tell me how grateful they are to have these memories preserved, especially during a time that often feels like a blur due to lack of sleep and the adjustments of welcoming a new baby.
I also love that my work becomes part of a family’s story. Many clients come back to me for maternity, newborn, milestone, and birthday sessions, and I get to watch their families grow over the years. That trust and long-term connection is something I truly value.
On a personal level, being a creative allows me to combine art with purpose. Every session is an opportunity to create something beautiful, while also giving families something meaningful that they will treasure for generations.
For me, the greatest reward is knowing that my work isn’t just photography — it’s preserving memories that become part of a family’s
