We recently connected with Aliguma Allan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aliguma, thanks for joining us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
The most important lesson that I have learned since starting a Skill development project is that , skills development has helped students both at school level and those that are not able to access formal education to build a strong foundation in the employment sector, which is accompanied with building great confidence, leadership skills and development to problem solving skills plus collaboration. The end goal is, the youth have managed to become independent thinkers and can plan for their future.

Aliguma, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Allan. Aliguma, Ugandan male aged 33, and I have a big passion for skills development for the youth in my country. Eranda Woods And Homes is an independent nonprofit Civil Society Organization based in Fort Portal Tourism City, and our prime motto is to Shape and develop youth skills. In 2020 a group of dynamic and like-minded young people working in the development sector, got together to establish an organization, for addressing the most urgent and pressing skills needs of the young people in Uganda . True to this spirit the organization was named “Eranda” Woods Skilling Forum (EWSF). The Word Eranda is a Runyakitara word that means Hand Plane that is used to smoothen timber.
Through our skilling projects we produce hand made furniture for homes in our community and we have managed to create employment opportunities to young carpenters, improve the quality of production in a timely manner.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Our main goal that is driving our creative journey is to develop youth skills in Uganda

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is ”SHARING” in a way that these skills can be passed on from one person to another and this can change the future of every youth in the still developing countries.
