We recently connected with Alicia Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Alicia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How has Covid changed your business model?
As the owner of a Newborn Care Specialists company with over 30yrs of experience, I can certainly say that COVID-19 has significantly impacted our business model. Before the pandemic, our business mainly operated through in-person consultations, home visits, and hands-on care for newborns and their families. However, with the arrival of COVID-19 and the need for social distancing, we had to rethink how we approached our services to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.
We gradually realized that sticking to our traditional methods wasn’t feasible in the face of the pandemic’s challenges. Initially, we tried to maintain our usual practices by implementing strict hygiene protocols and providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to our team. But as the pandemic persisted and restrictions fluctuated, it became clear that we needed to adapt.
We made the decision to shift towards a more virtual approach, utilizing technology to offer remote consultations, virtual classes, and telehealth support. This transition required us to invest in upgrading our technological capabilities, training our team on virtual care delivery, and revising our protocols to ensure the same level of quality service.
Transitioning to a virtual model wasn’t easy. We had to rethink how we communicated with clients, managed schedules, and handled billing. There were also concerns about how our clients would respond to virtual care, given their familiarity with our previous in-person support.
Despite the initial challenges, embracing virtual care has proven beneficial. It has allowed us to continue serving our clients safely and has opened up new opportunities for growth. By embracing technology, we’ve been able to reach more people, offer flexible scheduling, and improve accessibility to our services.
Moving forward, we’re committed to evolving our business model to meet the changing needs of our clients and the healthcare landscape. While COVID-19 pandemic has been a disruptive force, it has also presented us with an opportunity to innovate and reimagine the way we deliver care, ultimately leading to a more sustainable business model for the future.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Absolutely! My name is Alicia Wilson, and I am the proud owner of BabyNGuru 24hour Newborn Services LLC, specializing in newborn care for singles, multiples and triplets. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, my journey into the Newborn Care Industry was inspired by my passion for providing compassionate and expert support to families during the critical early days of parenthood.
While I may not be a mother myself, I am an awesome aunty to four nieces and one nephew! My deep-seated desire to help others navigate the joys and challenges of newborn care led me to establish BabyNGuru. At BabyNGuru, we provide a wide range of Newborn Care services designed to meet the unique needs of each family. From in-home consultations to hands-on care for infants, breastfeeding support, sleep training, and postpartum assistance, we offer a holistic approach to newborn care that addresses both the practical and emotional needs of parents and babies alike.
One of the key problems we solve for our clients is the overwhelming feeling of uncertainty and anxiety that often accompanies the arrival of a new baby. By offering expert guidance, support, and reassurance, we help parents navigate the challenges of newborn care with confidence and peace of mind.
What sets BabyNGuru apart from others in the industry is our unwavering commitment to excellence, cultural sensitivity, and personalized care. As a proud Trinidadian, I bring a unique perspective and understanding of diverse cultural practices and traditions surrounding childbirth and newborn care. This allows us to tailor our services to meet the specific needs and preferences of families from various backgrounds.
I am most proud of the positive impact BabyNGuru has had on the lives of our clients. From helping families establish healthy sleep routines to empowering mothers to successfully breastfeed their babies, every success story reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional care and support.
