Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alicia Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?

My hero is my grandmother Irene, she’s my hero because she taught me everything I know about baking. My grandma cooked or baked with love, I guess that’s why it always came out so good, it was something that seem to put her mind at ease; I learned how to bake when I was 4 I don’t think she really had a choice in that though I never stayed out of the kitchen. I was always by her side asking her a million questions and she always seemed to have the answer. I bake now in honor of the memories I have of her and I in the kitchen. I do place my little spin on some of the recipes that were passed down to me, it feels like she’s in the kitchen with me holding my hand every step of the way making sure that I always bake with love.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I mainly bake on request for friends and family,or if there is some type of function I’ll bring a cake as a good gesture. I love to bake! I have the best memories of me and my grandmother in the kitchen from when I was younger and those memories are what drove me to start Alikakes. I honestly would laugh when I got a compliment for a cake and they said I should have my own bakery. Now I see it as a way to spread the love that was taught to me by baking with love.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me have been recommendations from friends, which I love how it gets my name out there more.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

A customer with a smile on their face. It gives you that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.
