We were lucky to catch up with Alicia Weber recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Growing up I dreamed of combining all my passions into one “fun job” one day and it seems that has happened thanks to the internet and online capabilities of the 21st century.
I will breakdown the 3 aspects of my entrepreneurship that is geared to providing edutainment, creative promotions, and eye-catching, unique presentations (maybe a cackle too). I really enjoy a good cackle, so I began my character comedy from the inspiration of Carol Burnett. Growing up I directed and played roles in skits with my sister and neighbors. Starting in 2010, I officially started Alicia and “The Clan” comedy shows and made my YouTube channel (aliciaandclan) with numerous characters that I role play – Coach Johnny Deltoid, Madalina Seg, Audrey Athletica, Sister Anita Man, and Aussie Amanda (the most famous a.k.a Outback Muscle Woman). These are just a few of my characters, but the main characteristic they all share is their different athletic abilities and strength. Close friends and family may also join in a comedy show. My dad is very active in the comedy and performs various characters.
I began strength feat performing on apparatuses I built as a teenager. I would suspend in air doing strength moves for 5 minutes and end swinging on rings with a basketball between my feet (and throw it through a basketball hoop). I set my first official world record in 2008. Live and online strength shows followed in 2009. By 2012, I was recognized as the World’s Most Prolific Female Record Setter by Recordsetter World Records. I set 1,000 physical fitness world records in 1,785 days from 3/6/12-1/23/17 covering 5 areas of physical fitness. The records are listed in my book “World Record Weber Wellness Routines” along with proven and researched wellness routines.
My creative writing/blogging and presentation skills began as a youth. I was a precocious public speaker and I was teaching public speaking by the 6th grade. I became an award-winning poet in 1997. I was one of 6 national finalists in the American Poetry Annual contest with my poem “March Thundershowers”. I had poems selected for magazines, wrote and illustrated my first book “Wild Under the Waves,” won two art contests, and placed second in a comedy contest against professionals by the time I was nineteen.
In 2002 I received a degree in Telecommunication and Film Studies from the University of Florida where I was a letter-winning track and cross country runner. With the boom of the internet in early 2000’s to more online opportunities now – my creative vision came in full circle…Alicia Weber Enterprises.
Alicia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc?
I build my online presence only organically. It may take awhile, but it is worth it in the long run, since the fans and followers truly have an interest in what I am doing. In about 10 years, I received approx 2 million views on my YouTube videos and I do not upload very often. I try to post when I have something important or unique to share. I have different niche markets for all my interests (at least 5 YouTube channels) and I am on Rumble at AliciaWeberWellness. Then, I have the Weber Way to Wellness blog, which is about all things related to wellness, which targets a wide audience from youth to seniors.
I like to connect with my audience that has a genuine interest and curiosity for whatever they are following whether it be Facebook, Instagram, my website, YouTube etc. Likewise, I like to help promote businesses that I genuinely feel good about whether it be a product or service. My goal is to promote businesses, so that they can get a maximum outreach and potential benefits through my creative, eye-catching, unique, innovative approach (whether it be through video, writing, or both).
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of my personal aspirations as a creative performer and elite athlete has been to win a National Championship and perform an opening act all in the same weekend. I called it trying to do a “double endeavor”. In the early years, while at University of Florida and shortly after I made a number of attempts at the double endeavor. I was a Team entertainer for the cross country and track team. I was also a Trigator triathlete and team entertainer. I performed at the Collegiate Triathlon Nationals and I also competed in triathlon there. It almost seemed too difficult or a far-fetched idea to perform and eventually win a major event because the entertainment took my energy away from the competition. It was challenging to focus on competing when I went into LaLa Land as an entertainer just hours before the start of a race. Plus, getting the right nutrition and fluids on time as a performer turned competitor was an obstacle.
I began working on this “secret dream” in 2000. However, it was achievable – It took 15 years to finally achieve the double endeavor!! On the weekend of May 9-10, 2015, I began the weekend with an Opening Act at Clermont Art Festival as Audrey Athletica in a short character comedy skit. I also did a lot of dancing as Audrey Athletica at the close of the event. I then drove to Cocoa Beach, FL to compete in the 10K Beach Running USA Championships where I competed first thing in the morning on May 10 – winning the National Championship! Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I enjoy new goals and challenges. I think promoting businesses is actually a great challenge, since no one knows the outcome or what to totally expect. I just have to give it my best – think creatively and imaginatively. I know that when I stand out with something done unusually, then the business will also stand out. So far, I have been very happy at my customers’ results. They have all reported great successes to me after I promoted them.
