We were lucky to catch up with Alicia Mitchell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alicia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I first like to think of my Craft as a LEARNING GIFT!! Like it was given to me, as a part of my destiny. Like every little, small or in sequential thing I did over the years finally made sense. Coming to full fruition. Once, I seen what my gift was. I was intrigued to find out more on how I could not only learn from it but expand on it. By practicing self-love/care and meditation. Cultivating ME time to process inner thoughts as well as my emotions. By also, researching certain interests towards it that piqued my interest. There’s really nothing I would change or could do to speed up the process! I WISH!! If anybody who’s close to me knows whenever I get into a creative block. “I have to wait until the magic flows and ride that wave again.” Some of the obstacles that stood in my way were mostly TIME and my PERSONAL life. The allotted timing for my creativity is not an on and off switch. It’s like a magical elixir that’s been brewing. Once the cauldron bubbles over. Then the magic potion is spilled over, the creativity is then at its PEAK! Remember what I stated earlier, then I ride the waves. This gift is at its full potential, and I can then tap into my creativity and turn them into more learning gifts.

Alicia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m very passionate about the work I create! I put my whole heart into my creative ventures. I’m so many things to so many people. First and foremost, I’m a mother to 2 beautiful girls! I’m a Pharmacy Technician, Notary Public & Loan Signing Agent, Publisher, Activist, Humanitarian, Podcaster, Influencer, Creator, Opportunity Coach that inspires the youth to the road of Financial Empowerment, and a program trainer for CompUDopt. Where I teach children of all ages all about STEAM/Coding. I’m a visionary as I’ve said before so I can see the bigger picture. What sets me apart from others is I can operate in duality. Idealism/Pragmatism. Detailed/Result Oriented. I’m most proud of all my success and failures. As they keep me humble and grateful. I have a podcast called OTC(OnTheCooL) that is about Self-Improvement and Personal Empowertment. Mostly, on all audio platforms! This is a safe place for everyone all over the world at any age to feel safe and not judged! I’m also very tech savvy in marketing and communications. I have been marketing, promoting, and handling communications for my podcast for close to 2 years now by myself!!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Being a creative it not easy at all. You’re basically creating something from a mental aspect and making it more physical or tangible. in reality. It takes real hard work, dedication, sprinkled with some perseverance, and a lot of patience. I go through a lot of burnouts coupled with Super HIGHS and Super LOWS in cultivating my learning gifts. The job is never done. You continue to build your masterpiece. Any time, I feel like I need a long break from creative duties. I really can’t afford it because I’ve now realized. it’s not just about me anymore and it’s bigger than me. I push through by allowing myself grace when I feel overwhelmed but also retreating and regrouping while I show resilience.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly, the goal is unclear as far as it being fully revealed. I do know there’s a bigger purpose right now and I’m meant for something greater! I would love to see my Podcast OTC on a small news segment in my hometown, doing more promotional videos/interviews with prominent figures and becoming a vindicated series on SIRIUS XM RADIO! I would like to expand into a bigger market by having my own radio segment. As far as my activism, being a bigger and greater service for all mankind.
