We recently connected with Alicia Hale and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alicia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is the recent creation and launch of my live artist agency, Lumina Art Collective. As a live event painter myself for the past 5 years, I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful it is to capture special moments in real time.
Starting Lumina has been deeply personal for me. It grew out of my desire to not only serve more couples and clients with beautiful, heartfelt artwork at their events, but also to uplift other artists, giving them the platform, training, support, and community to thrive doing what they love. Every wedding or event we paint is unique, but seeing our artists build confidence, refine their craft, and connect with people on such a joyful day makes this work profoundly meaningful.
It’s more than just paintings, it’s about creating unforgettable experiences through live art, fostering human connection, and building a collaborative artistic environment. Watching that vision come to life has easily been the most rewarding project of my career.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a live wedding painter and founder of Lumina Art Collective, an agency of artists who transform life’s most meaningful moments into art. I specialize in live wedding paintings and watercolor guest portraits, capturing genuine emotion and important celebrations as a timeless keepsake.
My journey began with a deep love for painting and telling stories through art. Once I started live painting at weddings 5 years ago, I saw how powerful it was, and how guests would gather around, watch the artwork come to life, and feel even more connected to the celebration. That magic is what drives me.
Through Lumina, we’re able to bring this experience to even more couples and events. What truly sets us apart is how personally we approach each celebration with a variety of art styles. We’re there to capture authentic moments and create artwork that feels meaningful to you. I’m proud to have built a community that values both our clients and our artists. In the end, it’s about creating something beautiful and lasting that tells your story in a way photographs alone can’t.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, it’s the connection. There’s something incredibly special about creating art in real time, surrounded by people celebrating some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. I get to witness and capture genuine emotion — and then hand them something tangible that holds that memory forever.
It’s also deeply rewarding to watch guests react as a painting comes to life, or to see couples light up when they first see their finished piece. Those moments of joy and surprise are what make this work so fulfilling.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Honestly, I think it comes down to choosing to value real art and the people who make it. For individuals, that might look like hiring a live painter for your wedding, or picking up a piece from a local artist instead of mass produced decor. For businesses, it means actually investing in art and using it to tell your story, create meaningful experiences, and show that you care about your community.
And it doesn’t always have to be about spending money. Simple things like sharing an artist’s work, leaving a nice review, tagging them on Instagram, or just telling a friend about them all go a long way. Supporting artists keeps creativity alive in our neighborhoods and brings so much more character and heart to the spaces we live and work in. It’s good for all of us.
