We recently connected with Alicia Cochran and have shared our conversation below.
Alicia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I was an exhausted mother of two babies when I hired a professional Sleep Consultant. After 4 nights, my child was sleeping through the night. It was in that moment I knew I HAD to become a Sleep Consultant so I could offer the same relief to other exhausted parents. I reached out to my Sleep Consultant and asked her how she got started. She referred me to the certification program she took. I prayed on the decision and decided to enroll. For the next few months, I spent what little free time I did have studying, doing homework, getting CPR certified, and becoming obsessed with pediatric sleep. I then had to do my volunteer clients. This process was awesome. I was able to help 5 families, free of charge, to test my skills. To my surprise, all my volunteer clients began sleeping through the night in 14 days or less and it was then I realized that I was really good at this and had finally found my passion. I then did all of the business things – thought of a name, got my LLC, got insurance, created my logo and website, and launched my business. The rest is history!

Alicia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Alicia Cochran from Sweetest Sleep Co. I became a pediatric Sleep Consultant because it saved my life. I was battling postpartum depression combined with a baby who was bedsharing with me, resulting in no sleep, which is a scary combination. After I discovered sleep training, my entire life changed for the better, and to this day, I credit it with saving me. I provide virtual sleep consulting to exhausted parents nationwide. I work diligently with them to create a custom sleep plan that fits their lifestyle, parenting philosophy, and child’s temperament. I then train the parents on how to implement their plans best. Once sleep training starts, I support the parents intimately — sending supportive texts, asking questions, providing feedback, and tweaking their techniques, if needed. I am known for providing top-notch support. I am the parents’ lifetime through this process. I answer questions promptly, reassure them, remind them of their why, and provide a judgment-free zone to vent when needed. I am most proud of being the support system for parents that I so desperately needed at one point in time.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I always make a point to check in on my clients regularly to ensure they’re still sleeping through the night. If not, I offer free advice and support to help get them back on track, I truly feel like I get so much word-of-mouth marketing because of the fact that I care about my clients and the results I deliver, This isn’t just a business for me, it’s a passion, Its something I live for. The results I help parents achieve enrich my life as much as it does theirs, and it shows through my follow-up post working together.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I grew up in a chaotic household with a slew of issues, such as alcoholism, infidelity, and abuse. I have always fought tooth and nail for all I have, I started working at fourteen and have had at least one job ever since, usually two or three. I am driven despite the odds that were stacked against me, being born to teenage addiction-ridden parents, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I took out loans and worked my way through college. I struggled, fighting for a brighter future, I financed my Sleep Certification on a credit card because I knew it would eventually pay off. I’ve got an optimistic view of life and know I was made for more, and I have never quit despite the challenges I’ve faced. If I could tell you one thing reading this – keep going, keep fighting for your dreams, you deserve the success that you were destined for.
