Alicia, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Wow, I really started in this world of events only as an MC in 2013 when a former colleague from the local radio station where I worked invited me to do this work for an event of hers. Honestly, I was afraid because although there were I worked in radio, behind a microphone, doing it in public caused me “Stage Fright”, hahaha, but I took the risk and assumed it, I only did a couple of events with her, but it was not until 2016 that another friend, owner of Cadena Choreographies, called me to continue in the same line as the MCs, where I really began to navigate more deeply in these waters here in Kansas City.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

AJ EVENTS KC, is my favorite daughter, I began to delve deeper into this medium of events, now in a more dedicated and professional way, as a result of the needs I saw when I presented myself as an MC. Many years ago, in my country Colombia, where I am native, I organized corporate events for the companies I worked for and I liked it, but I never saw it as a business. But returning to the above, I began to envision a line of services for events for our company that would allow our clients to truly enjoy their parties, and leave even the smallest detail in my hands. This is how we began to offer, receiving guests and accommodating them at their tables, so that they felt well cared for, then we implemented waiter service, both to keep the tables clean, and to help serve food to the guests, followed by This and due to the success that AJ EVENTS KC had as pioneers in this field in the Kansas City area, we decided that we would be the ones to plan the events. We would look for service providers for each party, providing our clients with the lowest degree of stress that this type of event entails, everything from start to finish, including other services such as invitations, personalized banners and many other things that today allow us be producing quality events.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Oh wow, right now, answering this interview, I have to admit that since we started with AJ EVENTS KC, my husband and I have always worked shoulder to shoulder, detail by detail, absolutely everything, so that each event goes well, regardless of the hours. of work. When we were already starting this company more professionally, the pandemic hit us and that was when the test was presented to us, but we knew how to be smart and stay at least active on our social networks, so that our followers knew that we were still there, and in 2021 Thank God we had some events still with masks, but they turned out incredible. Today within our booking we already have the capacity to cover two events on the same day, to meet the needs of our clients. As lessons during all these years, there is only one that we had recently and that is that we should not release the responsibility of our business to anyone, the quality of our service lies precisely there, in that it is ourselves, my husband and I, who direct the helm of this ship called AJ EVENTS KC.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I love this question, because we can say with great pride that the followers we have are all organic and it is only thanks to our active presence on networks, the recommendations of our clients and some paid posts that we have achieved our community. We will not have many, but the ones we have are genuine, real and they are the ones to whom we owe our permanence and our success as a company. It is important to be present every day, making a difference with content that your followers visually fall in love with, clients and your fans deserve it all.
